Haven't read it, but it's funny, I also am an American who looked for a team to support and got bitten by the Pompey bug.

Actually, I got serious about the EPL a few years ago, and scanning the list of teams, I decided to pick the one that sounded the least familiar. That was Portsmouth, because it was their first year up in this most recent spell.
