A quick search of the internet shows that the Vancouver 86ers were entered in 1992 but withdrew before the first leg. Probably due to the fact that small teams such as the Canadians ones can't afford to enter these competitions.

They should either go top an all-Canadian League (and if the Canadian A-League teams say "no thanks" then other Canadian cities can take their place) or they should just add another 4 cities to the A-League and have a seperate tournament to decide a Canadian champion.

Their likely wouldn't be enough cities in Canada to support a league. This is especailly since Canada's three biggest cities wouldn't be involved in it.

An option would be set up rival team within the cities occupied by the A-League.

Rubbish.

Last time I checked there were plenty of cities in Canada with enough population to run an A-League team. Since the new Canadian League would be the same calibre as the A-League drawing similar crowds, there would be plenty of cities that can support a team.

Would a league such as that survive being cut out of the 3 big media centers?

Highly doubt it.

I don't see why not. The A-League survives in the USA and it is shut out of the USA's big 3 media centres. In fact their is very little media interest in any of the cities.

It's not like a Canadian league, that would probably be on the same level skill wise and media interest wise as the A-League, would have that much media interest in those cities if they had teams anyway.

There are plenty of people to go around in the U.S. It's not as easy here given that appro. 1/3 of Canada's population live in the big media centres. Nad the soccer base is usually in those cities..

The sucess of any league will require teams in those three cities.

I don't agree.

Would you rather have a Whitecaps team in a Canadian league or have a rival club set up in it's place?

It'sd premature to talk about the Whitecaps, as technically they don't exist at the momen.

However I would support whatever team is in Vancouver. Or if theres more than one, both.
