Analysis
In the goalie position we are secure. We have the up and coming talent (Ochoa) the experience (Oswaldo) and the quiet guy who just keeps working (Corona)
At rightback I think we are also secure. Three guys who are pretty good defenders. Osorio is the best going up but who knows when Hugo will call him back. The only guy I see that should get a shot at this position is el Guti Estrada in Santos. The guy just turned 24 and has had a great year so far.
Centerback its painfully obvious that we need to look at more centrales. How many times does one need to look at Magallon? The only other center Hugo has called is Beltran. Dude doesn't even play for Cruz Azul. Other options Aaron Galindo. I know I know Galindo? Sue me that guy should be on the team. Leobardo Lopez who has had a slip up recently but if he can get back the level he had he should be given a shot.
Leftback is Salcido's to lose. Pinto has secured himself as the backup. The only other guy I see as an option here is Oscar Rojas. He has been getting back into form since his injury. Other than that we are fine.
Rightmidfield is Arce's position. The sad thing is that only Alberto Medina has been called up to play here and failed for the most part. We have Gio but we should look at other options. And the only other option I can think of who is older than 23 is el Chicharo Hernandez from Atlante.
Centermidfield- Torrado and someone else. Pavel has the most talent out of the other three but he is getting old. Correa works well in Hugo's system but doesn't give much offensively. Pineda is not playing at a good level right now. If he ever achieves the level he once he had he would probably be the best option. If Hugo were to look for someone else maybe someone like Ignacio Carrasco from Morelia dude is 25 and having a good season. Plus he is pretty good with free kicks.
Leftmidfield- Guardado is the certifiable starter and Ramon Morales is a good backup for now. Considering he'll be 34 by 2010 I think we should start looking for some other guys that can play this position when el Principito is not there. Someone who has impressed me this year is Alejandro Vela. The dude has been all over for Jaguares this season he has 5 goals is 23 years old pero no da le edad para la olimpica. Hopefully he gets a call up soon.
Strikers- Nery and Cacho. With Bravo as the backup. The only other decent scorers in the Mexican league are Santana (who wont get called up). And two guys who score each and every year but never get called up Carlos Ochoa and Miguel Sabah.
I doubt they'll get called up either.

Part of the problem I see with the Olimpica is that we are dependent upon players from the sub-20. While we miss out on many 21-23 year olds who make the grade. Stop the hype experience counts during these tournaments and it would benefit this team to have a leader who has been around the block longer than 1 or 2 years.
Goalie position is Memo's. But shouldn't we see who can be his back up? There was no other perfect time than the game against Guatemala. pfft.
Rightback- the only person Hugo has put in this position is Esparza. The dude does provide much offensively maybe we can look at someone else? Other possibilities anyone?
Centerback- Catita should start but the question is who can help him out because Moreno let us down against Argentina in the u-20 and yesterday against Guatemala. How about Robles from Atlas? experienced but his down side is his size. Or Michael Orozco physical good speed but is also a pocho so it might piss off Necaxista. :p
Leftback- Castillo and Aldrete fighting it out for that spot. But both need more playing time. Luckily both have the ability to play leftback or leftmidfield.
Rightmid- This position is fine. Villaluz, Cerda or Barrera play good. We can even put Gio there.
Centermid- This position worries me for the qualifiers. Pato has been invisible for El Tri. Jorge Hernandez runs alot that about it. Options el Hobbit or Mosqueda in case we play with an enganche. Alan Zamora o Guerrero from Atlante?
Leftmid- Guardado with either Castillo, Aldrete, or Rodriguez as backup. We are fine
Strikers- Gio and Vela should start but they won't be there during qualifiers. That leaves Landin and someone else. Valadez I don't think did that poor considering the circumstances of the game and being out there battling by himself up top. But other than that who else? Necaxa debut some kid against CHivas who scored a nice goal but I can't think of anyone else other than Santiago Fernandez.
