View Full Version : Sanchez must go- The press agrees

After the game against Colombia yesterday, the press finally agrees with what I have been saying and posting for the last months: Plattini Sanchez is not the right coach for our national team.

He single-handlely gave the match away with his strategy and the subs he made. Mojica was not doing anything, Andaveris did not gravitate, and Reyes should have been subbed right after he got his first yellow. Cabrera should have started and Moreno could have played better than Gutierrez.

What is worse, Plattini is so stubborn as not not even admit his errors. He was quoted "we played great, but the goalie for Colombia saved them". What game was he watching?

We need a real coach. Now.

Either that or we need to have our football at the national team level take a long sabatical until we can catch up to the rest of South America. Start from zero...make the league, the FBF and the ANF (or as I call it the three-headed snake) defunct and create a single organization that controls everything related to soccer in our country.

It is infuriating the stubbornness of Platini. My question is who can we get as a new coach. Clearly hiring someone within bolivia is not the answer as they all seem to have the same mentality. Do we go after the Great One (Mourino)? we couldnt afford him. So in all senserity who else is a possible candidate that can 1. do a better job 2. be willing to stand up to the FBF the way Sanchez has and 3. can be affordable (remeber we dont have the money that other countries have and it seem like everyone worth mentioning is always out of reach financially wise)

Since i can't come up with a name, i'd have to stick with Sanchez, the players seem to be behind him (which is key with the esteen the players have) he is standing up to FBF (maybe playing their game a bit), and more inportantly EVO is behind him (i say that sacastically, however it has some merrit as he pushes FBF to help him out)

I much rather quite the fans of their chant to get Platini out and first see who can replace him. Too many times hasty moves have been made in pulling a coach out with out a back up plan and that makes it worse as far as continuity for the team. I just hope that he doesnt quit right now, that will for sure sink us more than anything

I agree...I wouldnt change Sanchez...I hope he doesnt quit......he may not be the greatest....but....we cant keep changing coaches every few couple of games....that is part of our problem....we have not had any continuity since Azkargorta! In Bolivia in the last 10 years we have had more soccer national team coaches than presidents and for us that means a lot! Plus remember Azkargorta was heavily criticized at first for just about everything....... give Sanchez a chance.....if giving him a chance means blowing off our chances to South Africa, then so be it. But for once, lets stick to a project and lets try to make the most of it. A so-so project is better than no project at all.

Yes i dont think we have anyone else that can do as good as him, well let me change that, anyone that knows bolivian players, and their faults like him. He is seen different among the players, and is backed by many. Right now you throw in a Bora Milatonavic(sp) and he wouldnt be able to do shit, why?? Because he doesnt know our league, or our players and would have to start from scratch. Right now we cant higher anyone else, unless maybe the assistent coach, William Ramallo. But if we do that, i rather have Platini. Who else? Aragones? He coached us a couple years back in our dark period, and got canned cause he stunk! Those are the 3 that most likely would go up and coach if he got fired.

So at this time hes the best we got, he made some blunders, and hopefully will see that 1 team is whats needed. We need to go full strength everygame, with our best players! He's seen now, limberg, and gatty play, and given reyes, mojica and Vaca plenty, of chances to prove themselves! Jhasmani is superior and hopefully we can work something out in our midfield.

Its hard, because look at our team, we have no set number 10 yet, and we are already 2 games in the eliminatorias! Its not platini's fault completely, because a couple of months back no one in hell would ever put El Gordo Gutierrez as our number 10! Now we do it, and hes in better shape and in better form, same goes with Gatty! He played waaaay better than he did against the U20 Ecuadorian team from what i can remember. So he has more names to mess with, all its going to take is a good starting 11 to pull a good result and i garuntee you everyone will be praising him like god!

Just give him time guys! We got 2 really hard games coming up, and god himself cant help us in our next game in Argentina. After that we play in Venezuela on their turf, hopefully we can pull a 2-2 tie like we did in la copa america.

Wit that said friends, i know we've all been patient but just look at all my points i made, and tell that i am not at least a little right??

Again, Sanchez has shown he can be a good leader, look at copa america. I hope he just makes the right changes. BTW did you guys read the column in facetas deportivas about Sanchez and Mojica? I wouldn't think there's any truth to that but Mojica threw some underhanded comments against the forwards. The salt is beginning to build, i hope they can overcome grudges and move on. The last thing we need is for the players to start going after eachother.

Of course the idiots at the FBF can take some of the blame too. Bonus money promised was not paid. The players already went into these two games bitter about the finances. It's the same old same old with our team. It's so damn frustrating. I wish I could kick evey last one of those morons out of office and replace them with intelligent, honest people.

I am flipp floping, I see why he should go but at the same time I think that there is really no other choice. I am as hurt by the changes he made as well as of the starting line up. I agree that vaca and mojica killed the game, but I also see platani's point of the columbian goaly. He the columbian goaly had realy good saves at leas between 3-5 times. I would like to see bolivia score goal's I think that we play good. especialy at home.

I agree, Sanchez needs to stay with bolivia, he is our only hope. There is noone to replace him. But what he needs to do is start every qualifying game with the following players: goalie- Sergio Galarza, defenders-Juan Manuel Pena, Ronald Raldes, Miguel Hoyos, Lorgio Alvarez, midfielders-Ronald Garcia, Gualberto Mojica, Limberg Gutierrez, Leonel Reyes, forwards- Juan Carlos Arce, Marcelo Martins. El platini has options for forwards he can also put Jaime Moreno or Diego Cabrera. He should always start every game with these players. I don't like the whole two teams thing, he has to play every home or away game with his best players, that I think are the players that I mentioned. He has to play all his cards, either that or we're screwed. Specially the home games, they have to play with the best players, it's our only chance of going to the 2010 world cup. We have to win every game at home, that's how ecuador qualified for the last world cup.

Are you kidding with that group? Read all the posts on mojica, no way there. Isnt Reyes the one that got the red card, and the same one who commits fouls like that all the time? I'm also doubting putting Lorgio in there, he hasnt done much, and in fact makes many mistakes. I much rather have Amador ... since he saved that colombian goal at the goal line, and had the chance to score a goal, i think he has earned a spot in the starting 11. JuanMa, i dont know, too many injuries as of late, getting up there in age, i think having him there may cause inconsistancy in the back line and we should go to someone else.

I agree with Viva, I was with you Serg until I read Mojica & Reyes. You might as well just walk out on the field with 9 players instead. Mojica has done absolutely nothing to deserve another start, and reyes is a hack he has something like 5 or 6 red cards in the local tournament already. I think JuanMa could still be useful but i'd make him earn his start, he looked awful in CopaAmerica.

Yes, he is a hack. I personally gave him the nick name the butcher, from his rough play i always see of him.

And mojica, yes had a decent game for the first time i have ever seen, but taht is not enough to win him a spot on our right MF spot. Hes too shakey.

I see what you guys mean, but it's the only line up that has chemistry in the field and are balanced as a team.

I see what you're saying about the consistency needed, but we can't be consistantly bad. If Sanchez never played those two again i think we can be better off. I also think Nacho's red card was really bad for us as he can provide the work in the middle that we needed against colombia. We need to see Martins and Arce up front though, unless they work together we'll never know how good they can work together. It's a long road and it has to start now. I think Cabrera off teh bench as a thrid forward and taking someone from teh middle might be a good idea too. I've always liked the 4-3-3 formation.
//////////////////////////Galarza (gotta admit he saved us agains colombia)

Hoyos//////////////////Raldes/////////////////Amado//////////////////Alvarez

///////////////Campos//////////////////Garcia//////////////Gaty//////////////

///////////////Arce///////////////////Martins///////////////Moreno////////////

what do you guys think. My thinking is this, with three in the middle we have Lorgio or Hoyos that runs up and down the field and are good set up man with crosses. Gaty has shown he has vision and agility to go after players dispite his height. Moreno would be goo on the side as he opens the field and can drift to the middle to make the passes that Arce and Martins need. Martins is good in set pieces and he can get crosses from Arce and Moreno. Nacho is a work horse that can man the middle knowing that Raldes is behind him. I know we tend to loose the ball in the middle but with Moreno i think it will provide the leadership and touches needed in the middle

I gotta admit it, that's a good line up, but let's be realistic:Sanchez would never use a 4-3-3 line up. He already announced that he is sticking to the 4-4-2 line up. The only thing I would suggest is putting Juan Manuel Pena in the defense line, because he has international and european experience which is greatly needed in the back. I know that he is old, but he is still got some play in him, and we need an expert in the back. Plus, I think Gatty is too inconsistent and loses balls easily in the middle, he should be replaced by Limberg Gutierrez.

viva - i like it, tho i also fear that Sanchez wouldn't go for he - sadly, he is starting to look like he doesn't really listen to alternative points of view y se empaca...

I'd also say include Cabrera and Gutierrez as subs.

Viva Bolivia!
