Torres
Babel
Eto
Martins
Tevez
Ribery
Malouda
Tuncay
Quaresma
Gordon
Here is a short, non-exhaustive list of players that were linked to us in the summer. Which of these players do you guys think we missed out on and which are the ones you are glad we didn't get? I think we missed out on Ribery, I had not been a big fan of him but he has been a bright spark for Bayern. Even though playing for the premiership would be more demanding, I will be interest to see how he would perform in the premiership. Gordon is another one whom we really missed out on, he has been great at Sunderland and is worth all the money spent on him. Fabinski is still one for the future, while Gordon is one for now. The ones I am glad we didn't get is Tevez and Malouda, both of them are decent but not great.

Torres- way too much money. No thanks
Babel- I wanted him, but I guess he was too much as well. Plus, I believe he plays on the right, and we have enough there.
Eto- I would have liked him in a swap for what's-his-name. Other than that, too expensive.
Martins- This is the one I really wanted. I thought we could have handled his cost if we'd gotten him instead of Da Silva, but some believe otherwise
Tevez- No thanks.
Ribery- Would have been nice, but I'd rather have had Nasri as, like said above, Ribiery's another right-wing player.
Malouda- Wouldn't have been a bad buy, but I forget how much Chelsea paid for him. It was probably too much.
Tuncay- Nah.
Quaresma- Meh. Portuguese.
Gordon- A goalkeeper for the future is good; I suppose that's what Fabianski is (obviously), but Gordon seems more ready for a position that seems to be coming very quickly. I could be wrong though.

I say we have a look at this at the end of the season and see who has performed well and who hasn't. At the moment the only player who has impressed me is Torres as he has adapted extremely quickly but hey, Liverpool is like a home away from home for Spaniards ;)

I really wanted Babel. with his speed and striking ability, I am sure wenger could have molded him into a great player, maybe even a striker.

I think I would have wanted Ribery the most on this team. We are really fine with strikers as RVP and Ade are terrific at the moment and i think they are starting to prove they are consistent. Eduardo internationally is sensational, just waiting for him to light up the prem. We are i feel a bit thin on the wings and this is where Ribery would have came into play.

Since we get to be Les Gunners can 'pool be Los Rojos or something. Someone with more command of Spanish than I should really come up with something better.

Martins, Martins, Martins...after seeing him torch Mexico yesterday makes me wish we got him more...but I guess his dodgy age situation makes da silva a more safe bet :(

Most of the players on this list, we were never seriously linked with, except in our own minds. Given that Wenger wasn't going to wasn't interested in anybody, and certainly not at anything near market prices, we weren't in the market. Having said that, Ribery is someone I wanted who Wenger seemed interested in and has justified his price. Tevez is someone I wanted who Wenger had no interest in and I still think it is only a matter of time before he displaces Rooney from Man Utd.

I don't think you can say that about Babel, Eto'o and Martins. The former and latter Wenger did state an interest in, and while he did not publicly reveal interest in Eto'o he did say (through Fiszman I think) at Rick's meeting that his injury problems stopped him making a move, although he was a player he had an interest in.

I think Babel would have been a nice acquisition. He seems like a quality player and i think could have become a great player under Wenger. As well he stated an interest in coming here and that is always nice.

Bit surprised that you mention Tevez as I have absolutely no recollection of Le Arse being linked to him.
It was always United and Inter/Barca/Madrid that were linked although Tevez later revealed in an interview that he only wanted to go to United.

He was, he linked himself and AW said he would like to sign him but was put off by the fee and the complications with his contract.
Carlos Tevez is ready to offer Arsenal some good news - at last.
West Ham's Argentina striker has been linked with a move to The Emirates following Thierry Henry's £16m switch to Barcelona.
Tevez, 23, on duty at the Copa America in Venezuela, is also wanted by Inter but he told The Sun: "I know people are talking about Arsenal and that is something I am excited about.
"It's another big club and the good thing is I would not have to move out of London. I also already know English football and like it.
"Arsenal's style is more technical than physical so I could fit in no problem.
"My transfer is being talked about a lot - it's beautiful to be wanted by various clubs."
