It would not be easy, without Dema our chances to score from the midfield are really low. I do not believe Stoitchkov is gonna be efective this time around. Their coach is really good, he will have a player covering Stoitchkov and I doubt he is gonna be able to send long accurate balls any time soon.
Our strikers are not good enough to score by themselfs. They were not able to score against a A-league team. Ech is so pissed off that I doubt he will be of any help. So,...who is gonna score ?? It must be the defense again !! But, I think they will have their hands full with the San Jose attack to have energy left for attacking themselfs. Like I said, it won't be easy !! I think it will end in a draw : we do not have the means to score and they will be happy with a point on the road !!!.......

Just wondering what kind of numbers will be walking out after the DCU match and not supporting WF? I remember hearing/reading whining about all the "little girls" leaving and not supporting DCU. It will be interesting to see now that DCU plays first. Hope I can get my minivan and two girls to both matches once again! Prediction 3 - 1 DCU victory. One other question, why are DCU home matches being televised? Wouldn't that cut into attendance?

The next three games are crucial.
San Jose and an away and home with New England.
This stretch may well determine whether or not we make the playoffs.

I never whined about the little girls leaving after Freedom games. On the contrary, my ears breathed huge sighs of relief.

That said, I'm very much looking forward to this game, which means we're pretty much doomed.

I wouldn't worry about losing to us on Saturday. We're playing without three of our starters, Donovan(F), Mulrooney(M) and Onstad(GK), all out for the gold cup, Ekelund(M) is hurting and probably won't start, not to mention a host of walking wounded players and 300+ scoreless minutes. Your side is going to kick some serious ass Saturday....

while i'd love an "easy" win, i doubt that is going to happen. we will once again have to change line ups and our team has been rather jekell and hyde this year--really up one match then flat the next.

i think as a team we seem to play at the level of the opponent and our continuing tough streak of finishing keeps people in games even when we are running them around the field.

my guess it is more likely to be 1-0 to us, given we are pretty tough at home and you do have a lot of key guys out.

there sure is a lot of unbridled optimism on the pregame thread this week. I think we're collectively bipolar.

seeking to keep alive my string of wrong predictions:

san jose, 2-1.

with marco in, do we go back to three defenders?
who starts at left mid? q1? q2? surely not barclay or carroll.

We're going to be out of town this weekend, so we'll miss the game.

Have fun.

DC is going to win this one 3:1.

oh man! I forgot... well... if Marco takes the corner... then Petke won't score off it... but if we're out of the funk... maybe we can score then.

After all, our defense is our best offense.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp With Canada already officially eliminated from the Gold Cup, Onstad could very well play for the Earthquakes this Saturday.

Even though we did score on a corner last night, we can still set the LEAGUE record for most corner kicks made without scoring a goal.

Of course everyone in the division, except NY, has a game in hand on us. The Revolution played (and lost to Dallas) last night, so no longer has a game in hand on us -- and is just three points in front of us.

Going into the weekend:
NJ 15 played, 25 points
Chi 14, 22
NE 15, 21
Colu 14, 19
DC 15, 18

(if we'd have won that frikkin NJ game, the top four would all be within one point of each other -- and we'd be one of them! Ugh.)

Everybody in the east plays this weekend (two in the west are off). The Revs and Fire play each other, so there's some ground to made up on one or both of them. DC, Columbus, and NJ each play teams from the west.

On another note, man, do I love Wednesday games. It's great (for we fans that don't have to play them) having two DC United games in a week. And we've got Wednesday games coming up in three of the next four weeks!

Yeah, we really need to make up our minds.

1) We suck

or

2) We are great!

I think the problem is that we are both.

How about we suck at being great?
