That's my opinion but I bet it clashes with someone. Also, I didn't want to start a new transfer thread, it just sorta happened.

Anyway, let's sign Teso and put him at centre back since he's better than Micah Richards. :)

There is some chatter about Arsenal scouting the new "new Zidane" - Jeremy Menez. Don't know much about him, besides the fact that he is French and plays striker/AM for Monaco - on those two facts alone, he sounds like Arsenal material to me.

I can't keep all the new Zidanes straight. I though Samir Nasri was the new Zidane.

Someone should make a chart with all the new, or next, Zidanes, Maradonnas, Peles, Beckhams and Donovans so we can all keep track. .

Another rumour from The Stun

SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON is ready to make a move for unsettled Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann.

The Manchester City manager is monitoring Lehmann’s strained situation at the Emirates Stadium — where he has lost his first-team place to Manuel Almunia.

Eriksson wants to add some experience to his goalkeeper choices while Kasper Schmiechel, 20, and Joe Hart, 20, continue their development.

Lehmann, 37, is out of contract with the Gunners at the end of the season and has become frustrated after being forced to play second fiddle to Almunia.

He is also worried about his international place with Germany ahead of next year’s Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland.

And coach Joachim Loew said today: “I have told him that he remains our No1.

“But if his situation doesn’t change, we’ll need to talk. We need a goalkeeper with match practice.”

Oliver Bierhoff, Germany's general manager, added: “If that’s not the case, I would advise him to seek a new club where he can play next year.”

Eriksson is prepared to pay around £1million if he can persuade Arsenal to let the player leave in the January transfer window.

Former Dortmund star Lehmann has twice been voted best European keeper and been selected for three World Cup squads.

Can't see it happening to be honest.

There was a piece on him in Four Four Two this summer. Sounds phenomenal.

I can't see Wenger letting him go to another club in England.

Will Lehmann leave? His NT manager has given him until end of december to regain the #1 spot. The way things are going Almunia is set to stay in goal and that force Mad Jens to look elsewhere.

I love the squad we have, but I wouldn't mind a little strengthening.

I am completely convinced that Rosický and Gallas would do the job, if they could stay fit. If they can't stay fit between now and January, I think that Arsène should consider bringing in a couple of experienced players to replace them.

I am not completely convinced by Almunia or Lehmann, however. I would continue to start Almunia atm just because I think that he is the less likely of the two to score an auto. I hope we have a nice run in the Carling Cup, so that we can see more of Fabiański. If it looks like the kid will be ready to take over this season, then I say we hold pat (not out of the question, as he has already proved a dominant player at a lesser level of competition). If he looks to need some time, then I say we sign an experienced keeper to push for the title this year.

I still believe (although, apparently Wenger does not) that we could use a true winger in the squad just to give us a different option. Although, I must say I am more concerned about replacing the players who might give away goals atm than finding someone who might help us score more.

I'm with Skizz - just not seeing a reason to discuss much with the transfer thread when we've already got a strong 22 first team players. And we're not going to waive the cash or pay for top talent to upgrade over what we have.

Other than a possible replacement for Jens (if he goes, which I'm thinking he'll ask for a transfer), I really don't have much interest in bringing anyone else in. Let the kids develop; they've proven they can win everything so far...

We won't buy anyone who anyone has heard of and we don't need to buy anyone...so you know there will be at least three full threads for the winter transfer window.
