and I wish he wasn't! I know the surgery he had appears to be almost miraculous, but I'd rather he was training at Upton Park rather than rushing back into the international squad. Without him,we've been much less of a winning combination, and now that Ashton's out for 6 weeks, the situation is not too good. Apart from Cole. who else can be a striker?

If he hadn't been playing for Wales, he'd have been playing for the reserves. He needs the match practice.:rolleyes:

I don't think he travelled with the Welsh squad, I think he's aiming to play just the one game not both. As Norway has said he'll need a game before Sunderland so might as well be an international.

He's definitely out for the 1st game so I should think he'll be working his fitness up at the club until after that.
I think a run out against San Marino could do him some good. Better than straight back in against Keano's boys, who will have their instructions I'm sure!

Seems as if he may even start against Cyprus.
