View Full Version : OT: Most Overrated Player in Prem

Clearly, it has to be the England "Captain" John Terry. Seriously, can the guy be any more slow and lumbering? He is to the EPL what Kurt Rambis was to the Lakers. Now he's got the headgear, all he needs is the 'stasche. And yet he's apparently the HIGHEST paid player in the league (130K lbs per week). Whoah.
Of course, he follows in the footsteps of Beckham, who was probably described most apty by the late George Best, who, to paraphrase, said something to the effect of "apart from the fact he has no left foot, can't dribble or tacke, and is slow, he's all right".
And people wonder why the England team always seems to disappoint? Get some more skilled, athletic players in there!
We got the far better player in Gallas (now if he can only stop getting injured...) from them. I'll take WG 100 days out of 100 over said douche bag "Jay Tee". In thinking about this topic, it also made me appreciate Arsene's philosophy of getting skilled, athletic, young players even more!
Finally, I have to say it: these international breaks are the equivalent of watching paint dry. Another Iceland or Pharoh Islands match on FSC this week, perhaps?? Club football rules!

Don't know about that.
But shouldn't an OT thread be in the OT Forum?

Eh, this isn't OT anyway, it's on-topic about the Prem.
Most overrated player -- that's really quite a hard question. I can't even come up with a good answer right now.

I was actually thinking about Shrek myself. Goes way too long without scoring.

I was going to say Fat Frank but 20 goals from midfield is 20 goals from midfield. Hard to knock it.......ratio of shots taken not withstanding.

Rooney's not overrated. Dude's 21 and already a monster. When he's 25 we'll all be hoping Real pays to take him out of this damn league we'll be so sick of him.
Overrated? Aaron Lennon. Dude's like a cheetah, but there's not a whole lotta good football in there.
Xabi Alonso. Mistake prone, doesn't score that often, and is a DM lifted sometimes for defensive purposes. He's one of those still living off the success in the CL, when in reality he's the fourth best CM on his team.

Rooney doesn't score very much and is made better by the team around him.

Rooney CARRIED that team in 05-06, and scored 23 goals last year. He's 21 people. Yeah he's a United player and his demeanor is easy to hate, but there's so much talent there its absurd.
If, when he's 25, he's still at the level he is now, then you can start to call him overrated.

Rooney has had some very long bad pathes since joining manutd, but at the end of the season he still puts up good numbers and thats all that counts.
He definately isn't the "terror which keeps defenders up at night" that everyone said he was going to be when he first left everton - but he is still a good player.
I'm going to say Mikel, Alonso, and Bent.
