What the hell, every other realistic immediate expansion hopeful has this thread, so here's this one.....
My picks....
Name: Cleveland Bulldogs
Colors: Orange/Brown/White
Logo: Bulldog obviosly (similar i think to Fresno St)
Kits: undecided
obviously this plays off of the Browns, but MLS also doesn't have any orange or brown in the league and this also plays to the history of some sports teams and cities in the area (ie Canton). I also think this could turn some of the media and fans attention a little towards the MLS and Cleveland team.

Actually not a bad idea if the NFL Browns would be the ones behind the franchise... some history, too. After winning two straight NFL titles in Canton the gridiron Bulldogs moved to Cleveland the next year & made it a three-peat during the early 1920s. Wouldn't be surprised if the NFL has the name "Cleveland Bulldogs" copyrighted.
If Wolstein's group or the racetrack owner get the nod, I'd like to see Stokers on the list of finalists, complete with their Stoke City bright red stripes... perhaps even a scarlet & gray version. The '68 Stokers were an outstanding team that went largely unappreciated by locals & ownership.
BTW, Stoke & East Liverpool OH are "sister cities", as both areas have shared history in clay/pottery/ceramic production (EL high school teams are also called "The Potters"). Eastern Ohio was once the nation's clay products capital. Perhaps it was providential that Stoke City Potters represented Cleveland in '67... though I'd imagine that's lost on most products of public education today. Off the soapbox.

...they call the cleveland franchise FC Burning River. a fond reference to when the Cuyahoga (sp?) burned, thanks to all the filth and polution.

Grey and Scarlet (or even Wine) would be a good color set too, drawing interest from some media outlets. Not only that, but while there is some red and a lot of white and black, it may be distinct enough. I would just be curious how the non-OSU (read: anti) population in Cleveland would feel about it, but if it was more the wine color, maybe they'd think more towards the new retro Cavs and accept/like it.....
i guess we may see soon enough if they get the team...
I think I'd still just love to see some new colored jerseys, and especially orange ones :)
maybe even some creative brown ones with orange and white accents....
a little off topic and maybe deserving its own thread somewhere (but in relation, :) I'd get to see the proposed orange jersey quicker): I don't know if this idea has been mentioned somewhere else, but i've seen whining about white road jerseys around, but why not have the home team wear their white (or current away) jerseys? the NHL is doing that this coming year and I think it would greatly help the percieved (by some) color problem. You see the same home jerseys every game anyways, just they happen to be the colored ones....
back on topic....the Spiders have Cleveland sports history and are an interesting name....but alas they weren't soccer....

Name: Fusion
Colors: Blue and Gold
Why: Because a team in Cleveland will last no longer than the one in Miami did.

Crewmudgeon: There already is a football team (http://www.cleveland.com/fusion/) called "The Fusion" with the same colors, playing in Cleveland.
Team Name: Cleveland Society SC (honoring the roots of Jazz in Ohio - http://www.cleveland.oh.us/)
Colors: Orange (Think Wolves)
Logo: A crest honoring the establishment of the team and the Jazz Society (involving music in as non a cheesy way as possible.)

Personally, I think if the Wolsteins get the team the team colors should be tan (like the fake ones that Bart and Iris always seem to have) and wine (as in WHIIIIIIIIIIIINE when B & I don't get their way, just like they did with the original Force).
I've said it once, I'll say it again. If Wolstein gets a team for Cleveland, you won't see me there. I'd rather spend my money driving to Columbus and make sure a decent man like Lamar Hunt gets my support as opposed to a ratbastard like Bart.

Don't they both get it either way, being a single entity and all?
but i get your point...the only thing is you'll have more options and games to go to :)

LOL & ROTF, Rich P! I know what you're talkin' about! The rancid taste still remains from what happened to the original Force among a lot of potential present customers, that's for sure. If the Wolsteins get the franchise, they should address damage-control to some degree. Pissing off the average 12-14,000 who were regularly attending near the end calls for some plan on his part to win back their confidence. Remember that there were two sides to that story, even though there might've been no "good guys" either side (Wolstein v Foreman, et al). And Wolstein probably knew the Richfield Coliseum was soon to be demolished.
So, we've got Bulldogs, Stokers, Spiders, and the Society SC...Force only if Garofolo's group gets the team... dressed in some combo of red/white, scarlet/gray, wine/gray, brown/orange, gold/blue and, of course, Bart & Iris Tan/Whine. Good start, BJ.

lol... only if you can get your crazed, drunken fans to the games...
Why not the Cleveland Crackers? Its almost as politically correct as the Indians (of course, this team name is only politically incorrect when they suck...)

Red, White and Blue colors.
The name should have something to do with the canals.

That shouldn't matter; use it anyway. Here's another "non-soccer" name; the Barons. Or have the Lumberjacks gone back to that already (are they even still there?)?
Or how 'bout the Stars or Cobras, after Cleveland's old ASL team (had both names at one time or another)?

How in the Heck did Cleveland sneak up on everyone? Who's the money man behind this push. Two weeks ago I wouldn't have given Cleveland a snowball's chance down under to land a team. I'm all confused!

What was the name of those giant cranes that used to be on the waterfront?
Hulett Cranes, is what they were called.
The Huletts. OK, not a marketing dream exactly, but still...kinda cool.
