Rangers News:

Portsmouth defender Martin Cranie has joined the club on loan. Other new loanees Rowan Vine and Jason Jarrett could both make their home debuts. Mick Harford remains in charge as caretaker manager in what is likely his last game leading the team before the upcoming 12-day international break before our next game. According to QPR World Michael Mancienne is "a doubt" because of his back problem and Danny Nardiello is "struggling" with his hamstring problem. Sampsa Timoska has recovered from an illness and is available.

The Opponent:

Norwich, too, has had a poor start to the season and currently sits in the relegaton zone. They haven't scored in their last four league games and last five overall (including a League Cup loss to Man City).

The BBC reports "Norwich skipper Jason Shackell is available after suspension.

But Canaries defenders Gary Doherty (groin), Ian Murray (foot) and Adam Drury (back), and striker Jamie Cureton (foot) are all doubtful."

I was fearful that Cureton would perform well against us and won't mind if he misses out!

The Series:

Norwich leads 40-32-36. QPR has two wins and two draws in cup play, so Norwich leads 40-30-34 in league play.

Last season, it was a 3-3 thriller at Loftus Road, while the Canaries bested us, 1-0, at Carrow Road. In 05/06, QPR won at home, 3-0, while Norwich won the return match, 3-2. So, while neither team is scoring much at the moment, there have been 15 goals between them in the last four matches. Before that, the clubs hadn't met since 00/01.

The first meetings between the teams were in the 1909/10 FA Cup and the first meetings in league play were in 1920/21.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

PK for Rowlands minute 67.

Our first lead this season? Rowlands first goal this season and now he's our leading scorer this season? Crikey

About bloody time.

Still bottom but at least we've won a game.
Pretty promising football by all accounts - very much deserved the win. I know this was a dire Norwich side but you have to take the positives when you can.

Flavio was at the match. He brought along Naomi Campbell plus some other 'it' girls.

What I hear is the penalty was dodgy, but no complaints as you were all over us throughout, and we were dire ... so congratulations, looks like things might be turning around for you ... it seems that Grant is "considering his future" now, so you may have done us a favour .... lets hope we turn things round soon, and good luck to you lot, from down here we can only look up, right?

I've seen the highlights of the game since and yes, I'll agree the penalty that was given was indeed dodgy. However there was a penalty claim a few minutes earlier which was ignored but would have certainly been given on plenty of other occasions.

We hit the post too plus came very close on a few occasions.
Sounds obvious but we really need to be able to put away the chances while not haemorraging goals at the back.

Overall, that was a pretty good effort. Vine looks like someone we might be interested in buying come January. I was glad to hear the announcer mention that Ephraim's loan has been extended a further month.

A very positive review for the players and Harford in today's Guardian...

Much more of this and QPR might just shun the list of glamorous names who have been linked with their managerial vacancy and entrust the job to Mick Harford. The team may remain bottom but last night, in the caretaker's second game, they produced a dominant display and deservedly recorded a first win of the season.

I hate moving, I missed ALL of this. Feels good to have got the 1st win though, no matter how it came about, it also seems like Harford's decided to stake his claim to being considered for the top job, where right after Gregory's axing it seemed like he was a bit shell shocked.

We drank as fast as we could until the final whistle (after nearly 6 minutes of injury time!!!?) - then we had a couple more to celebrate :)

Reports around the message boards say Steve Bruce was in the Green pub before the match, former R's keeper Chris Day was seen in both the White Horse (after) and the Goldhawk (before), and Lee Cook was in the Loft during the game.
