The following is a summary of a spot on HBO Real Sports about a soccer game that broke out between two protesting groups in Venezuela and helped avert a riot. The piece was very well done, brought tears to the eyes.

JESUS SORIANO

Political turmoil in Venezuela has resulted in savage street clashes and claimed countless victims, including Jesus Soriano. This 24-year old Caracas law student once supported the turbulent government of Hugo Chavez, but decried the street violence between the president's supporters and opponents. Inspired to allay the hostility, Soriano began carrying a soccer ball to political marches, where he encouraged opposing sides to compete without bloodshed in peaceful matches. His success first drew the attention of the local media, then of the authorities, who, Soriano alleges, imprisoned and tortured him.
Correspondent Derek McGinty travels to South America to examine the story of Jesus Soriano.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago when it first aired. Good footage of the game amidst the protest and interesting insight into the political struggles in Venezuela. Frightening footage of Soriano after he emerged from the "non-existent" imprisonment.
