Nice, Dana White. Frak you very much. WCW buying the Bill Watts UWF, New Japan buying out UWFI only to eliminate the competition, make room for this.
Pride is officially done, then. At least I got the 2003 4-DVD middleweight tournament a few weeks ago.

It was in the cards, the japanese model depended completely on one sponsor, (fuji TV). They obviously could not support it and after the whole Japanese Mafia scaldal it was done. I don't blame White, and at this point they were as much competetion as king of the cage was. Hopefully this will mean the big fights are in Vegas now.

What he said.
Without the big TV sponsorhip money coming in, Pride could never be what it once was. Unfortunate, as I loved Pride, but the truth.

It's a shame because Pride 33: The Second Coming imo was the best MMA event ever. I wish some other owner bought them instead of Zuffa. Atleast than Pride would've carried on.

I'm not so sure about that - as has been mentioned earlier in the thread, the fact that Pride had allegedly been linked to the Yakuza led to Fuji TV dropping all of their programming immediately was what truly broke the promotion. Zuffa just swooped in to pick up the pieces.
