We've already had 1098782635 'Which league is best?' threads, so now it is time to answer the question we've secretly all being asking ourselves; the seemingly infinite conundrum, the eternal quandary that plagues our every waking thought; yes, it is time for the one and only 'Which Mickey Mouse league is best?' thread.

Zulte Waregem or FC Metallist Kharkiv?
Anorthosis Famagusta or Inverness Caledonian Thistle?
Lokomotiv Plovdiv or Genclerbirligi?

It's time for YOU, the proletariat, to decide once and for all.

I call France, they're arrogant but they are quite good.

Portuguese league, with a hint of bias on my part, but their recent showings in Europe have surpassed all other "Mickey Mouse leagues" by far.

Would not have included Franmce, they are like Germany somewhere in the middle. Voted for them obviously then, otherwise it would be The Netherlands, Mexico or Romania.

Well, that's the problem with this thread. It's like debating who is the world's tallest midget.

like the midget team that took your team into double over time in the last world cup...

We've beaten Rangers, Hibernian and Hearts in the last 10 years. No one can convince me that anything outside the old firm has quality in Scotland.

No way they're the best.

So the definition of a 'Mickey Mouse league' is all the leagues weaker than the Spanish, Italian, German and English top flights?

I don't agree with this list. France is a genuine league that has a large number of well supported and well funded clubs. Go to an average match in France and I guarantee you that Mickey Mouse may not be the first thing that comes to mind.

Same can be said for Holland.

Don't forget that both France and Holland regularly send at least one club to the latter rounds of Champions League.

What the hell is a Mickey mouse league...excuse my ignorance. What is it, a smaller league with lesser known clubs? Or just a league that isn't that tough?

Mickey Mouse can be used to mean second rate, amateurish or fake.

Mickey Mouse league doesnt have any teams that can compete and win at the highest level in Europe. Poland, Bulgaria and Sweden dont have any. France, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Scotland all have regular Champions League participants year after year who are capable of beating any one.

Agreed.

I consider it the big 5 not the big 3 as most people do:

-England
-Spain
-Italy
-Germany
-France

I just don't understand that. Portugal has had teams in 9 different European Cup/Champions Leauge finals, successful in 4 of those attempts, just as recent as 2004, yet France, who has 1 win, which has been highly controversial, is still considered better than us...

That's because France keep their status as a BIG football country because of their success internationally.

The domestic football league isn't to great though.

That's because 80% of matches in Portugal get played in front of 2,000 people. It's just really really hard to rate a league where that happens. The top 3 clubs are all great, but they play in one of the most unbalanced leagues in the world.

France on the other hand has about 20 very solid, well funded and well supported clubs that makes for a pretty competitive league.

Portugal its the same 3 teams. France before Lyon's run it was much more than 3 teams who won the league. France was traditionally deeper than the Portuguese league because more teams were competitve and capable of winning. Thats why its considered better.

France and Holland are not Mickey Mouse.
Romania and Scotland could be considered the best I guess.
Bucharest has 3 solid teams and Celtic, Rangers usually do well/
