Where would you want the stadium to be? An article I read said that they were going to knock down some of the Corona chop shops(lol)and put the stadium there. I think it has to be in Queens, what do you all think??

I don't care where it is. If there's a subway near it, i'll be there.

In another thread some questioned where a SSS would fit around Shea Stadium.
There is already a proposed plan to clear the red outlined area ("Iron Triangle") in the picture through eminent domain (click to enlarge (http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u164/Kubah_Ironfist/Iron_Triangle.jpg)). NYC wants to replace the auto shop and junk yards with "a convention center, a hotel with up to 700 rooms, 5.5 million square feet of residential space, retail and a 'regional entertainment destination'". I think that the Iron Triangle has room for a modest-sized SSS and parking as the "regional entertainment destination". Obviously this will take some time, but Bloomberg definitely wants to get this started before he leaves office or risk having nothing happen. Given the mayor's history of sports and urban development, I like Wilpon's chances of getting approval for a SSS.

Nice pic. For some reason Google doesn't have the new Citi Field construction on their maps even though it has been going on for over a year.

It must be urban. It must have subway access. Other than that I don't care at all.

this would be the best area - the city has an opportunity to turn this area into a great waterfront property with stadiums - bars - restauraunts - not only - as far as the area - tehre is a large following of the game - just look at Flushing Meadow park and all the people playing! It would be great - accessible and lots of fun! Now to get the MLS to see that!

Coney Island.
With the redevelopement that Coney Island is undergoing, it is scheduled to be finished right around the time a second NY team is rumored to be entering the league. The atmosphere would be awesome. Fireworks go off there every friday and saturday night of the summer. There is a vacant lot right next door to the Brooklyn Cyclones. It's perfect. Not to mention how much nicer the area will be along with the addition of skyscraper hotels. It's perfect. My dream location. An MLS team on the boardwalk.
Plus, You could call the team the Warriors. hehe:D

It would be wonderful if the atmosphere was actually going to remain. However, I think it's going to be Condo City by the time it happens.

actually its suppose to be a resort there with an indoor water park and outdoor amusement park. if that plan goes through, I might have to be at the "Warriros" every game. But I'll still be a RBNY supporter.

You are correct sir. According to Google Maps:
Coney Island - Meadowlands... 43 minutes
Shea Stadium - Meadowlands... 33 minutes
Coney Island - Harrison, NJ... 42 minutes
Shea Stadium - Harrison, NJ... 41 minutes
As for using public transportation, it takes about 30 minutes to get to Lower Manhattan from Coney Island, so using the PATH would be take as long if not longer.

You're assuming everyone in Coney Island or Brooklyn has a car first of all. Then you're assuming NYC traffic is a breeze. I would love this world.

Well, well, well. A SSS, in the NYC area, who would of thought?
Personelly, the best and most likely ideal place is one of three. The Barclay's Center, could offer some attractive spots for one to play at. Look it is a mixed development but you could fit an 18,000 seater in the confines, and trust me that's a good idea. Not too big, but enough for the soccer faithful not to think we're in the minor leagues.
Jarvis Center. It's off three major interchange points. Is a lot less likely to take away business. And hell, it beats going to another state to see a game.
Mitchell Field LI is the last. While I don't like the Rough Riders, the stadium and the area surronding it are going to be changing in a couple of weeks and I think it woudn't be bad at all.
