Bit of a tongue in cheek poll here, but based on current facts and figures, is Scottish football better than French football?

Scotland 1 - 0 France
France 0 - 1 Scotland
Lyon 0 - 3 Rangers

Lyon, current French champs defeated 3-0 at home to current SPL runners up.

The facts don't lie people.

silly poll, but the scottish are definitely a big thorn in the side of french teams at the moment. the result for the national team in france was a total fluke, but tonight was an awesome performance from the bits i saw. a few draws could see rangers through to the next round now, and they have the home leg v lyon which might guarantee progress even if they lose their other 3 matches.

Clearly you didn't watch the match. Lots of football fans seem to be under the impression that the team with the most shots on goal deserve to win the match. However the only stat that matters is goals scored. Despite the amount of possession the French team had, we dealt with everything they had to throw at us.And Craig Gordon only had about three saves to make in the match.

The fact is France failed to take their chances, we took ours.

We got our tactics right, they did not.

If England were in our group, I doubt that they would have the tactics, team spirit and resolve to beat France both home and away. Especially since England are struggling to get out of a group containing a bunch of no-marks from eastern europe.

This thread would have been better on the French boards.

Wait, are we talking about national teams, or clubs? Two completely different things IMO, although I think France is still better in both.

haha the Gers fans are coming out the woodworks all of the sudden because of 1 upset. At least Scotty from Myspace isn't on here! He would get banned instantly though.

The Scottish NT on the other hand has proven to be the better team of late, but the style wasn't better just the tactics. I'm not voting on this one, but I tip my hat to the Scots with their recent performances. Let's wait and see how the group of death finishes up.

You clearly didnt watch the match either...

In both matches between France and Scotland NT, Scotland has been totally dominated by a rather poor french side.

Did Scotland score their almost only shot on goal ? Yes.

Did France miss all their shots ? Yes.

Did Scotland deserve to win ? Yes.

Was it a fluke in both games ? Yes definitly.

Play those games 10 times, France would win 9 of them. Beat us twice ? 1/100 probability...

You did. Grats. Luck happens...

The French league is better no doubt in my mind.

Rangers outplayed Lyon, but outside of Celtic and Rangers the SPL is a complete joke. Meanwhile, Marseille beat Liverpool and the bottom dwellers would have a field day against teams like Gretna

France is much stronger from 1st - 20th.
Celtic and Rangers and Hearts are the only teams in Scotland that show up in Europe.

Does anyone know if any channel in the U.S. will be showing the October 13th Scotland-Ukraine game on tv?
