Who are the greatest team of all time?

You can come up with your own, obviously, but here are some examples that you can take in or throw away. This is not a shortlist - just examples:

Real Madrid - 50s, 60s, present day,
Manchester United - 50s (Busby Babes), 1995,1999,
Brazil 1958, 1970, 1982, 1998.
France 2000,
Italy 1982
Holland 1974
West Germany - 70s
Juventus - 90s
Liverpool - 80s
Hungary - 50s
Austria - 50s
Argentina 1978

Who? Who I ask you? Who?

Also, how about a vote for the best five players of all time. Here are mine:

Maradona
Pele
Rivelino
Moore
Puskas

There are so many others though:

Zidane
Ronaldo
Di Stefano
Guerson
Kempes
B. Charlton
Best
Platini
Maldini
R. Baggio
Romario
Cruyff
Neeskins
Rivaldo
Figo
Socrates
Zico
Zola
Keegan
Gascoigne
Banks
Müller
Beckenbauer
Völler
Yachin
Zoff
Garrincha
Tostao
Matthews

There will obviously be loads who I have missed out, so let me know some of your own faves.

Ajax 1970 - 1973

Ajax 1994/1995.

AC Milan 1989-1994

And I'll take Brazil 1998 out.

Don't you think that the Brazil team from 1998 was better than the ones who won the World Cup last year?

I forgot to mention a few other great players:

Raul
Roberto Carlos
Beckham
Klinsmann
Falcao
Bergkamp
Lineker
Robson
Schmeichel
Tardelli
Rossi
Eusebio
Weah
Giggs
Desailly
Vieira
Del Piero
Jimmy Modeste
Barnes
Keane
Bremner
Law
Jairzinho

Yeah, they're all pretty good, but none of them even compare to the most gifted player on the planet. You may have heard of the legend that is Phil Neville, however Djimi Traore is also creating a cult of legendary status around himself. What a player, what a f***ing legend!

How have you left Milan 89-95 out of your great teams list. They have to be in the top 3, for me they were the greatest but the Real 56-62 and Kippest-Honved team of the early 50s are both contenders.
Also why is Rivelino on you 5 best of all time, or Moore for that matter.

I think Moore was a great leader, a superb tackler, and a lengendary sportsman let alone captain.

Rivelino had the greatest left foot of all time. Whereas Roberto Carlos would merely take both feet off the ground before striking the ball, allowing power to surge through the shot, Rivelino side-footed the ball with the same power. His free kicks were the best in the business, he had great pace, and made wonderfully skillful runs down the left wing - an absolute master of his art.

Whoever said that Argentina 86 deserve a place on the best teams of all time list needs shooting!

Maradona practically picked up his entire team and carried them to the World Cup Final. The team has to be a TEAM - not one genius among average losers. Argentina 86 is an uneducated choice.

Everyone forgets the England side from the 1920s and 1930s. We used to play matches like "England vs The Rest Of The World" - a far cry from drawing at home to Macedonia.

Rivelino and moore were both quality players but wouldn't make my top 20.
Also Puskas and Maradona had (in my opinion) the best left feet.

As for England from before the war, yes they were good but as they only played in the home championship, it is dificult to say how good.

I believe that if Alan Shearer had been found at an earlier age, he would be one of the twenty greatest in the world.

I seem to recall Shearer scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal as a 17 year old. That's early enough.

Yeah, what I meant was, if he was at a bigger club at an early age. If he was at Man U or Barcelona just when he was hitting his peak, people would be talking about him in terms of Raul now.

It's just unfortunate that he had to go to Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle rather than a club constantly on the world stage.

But I appreciate your cheek. That's really cute. Well done. You a Spurs fan?
