Why will they not just let this story drop? He's not going anywhere, not being loaned anywhere...just drop it. Oh yeah, here's the link:

What is wrong with the EPL, its not competitive, to predictable and to expensive, and full of glory seeking fans who follow the big 4 and not their hometown teams because they are glory seekers The British press will say anything to sell newspapers, they should all be sent to do a tour of Helmand province, bunch of lowlifes. Oh and i choose Galaxy for a bit of glory for a change, oh well next season maybe.:)

Why do you even believe this. It's from the rumours section and gives no source for the so-called "reports out of England this morning".
I'm in England and I haven't seen a single item about Beckham going to Sunderland.
No way would he even contemplate it.

That's the point. I don't believe it. Nor would anyone else. I managed to find articles saying the same thing in an Irish paper, and a Scottish paper. Also if you just Google the story there are now reports saying its not true so it was obviously in more than one place.

Last season at the Sunderland Leeds game the Sunderland faithful were taunted with chants of "Third World Country, It's like a third world country". Why tf would he go there of all places?
Both my teams have had a media whitewash this summer, long may it continue, it instills a real fighting spirit.

So... what's the Premier League got to do with any of this?

Earlier this season Keane was complaining that he couldn't get players to transfer to Sunderland because most players' wives didn't want to move there. I'd be willing to bet that it was just an excuse by players who didn't want to move to that awful shitehole.
Of course, it seems to be a northeastern problem as well. Newcastle had a similar problem with Dyer and Solano and their families, who want to stay or live in London. How the hell does Hull get anyone to play for them? There isn't enough money in this world to convince me to move to Hull.

It only takes twenty minutes to drive to somewhere nice, even from Sunderland (Newcastle is okay) and Hull (Leeds or York). Look at Liverpool and Man Utd, all their players live in Cheshire, most in the same area. I see your point, but Sunderlands main problem was either getting players who even wanted to play for him, and getting good PL players who would be happy to spend next season in the Championship when they go back down.

I'm jes repeating what Keane said:
Keane on wags in BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/6947333.stm)
Hell, Newcastle is only four hours from London by rail, so you're correct about the small size of the country. In L.A. you could drive four hours and only go 20 miles!

I remember the interview, I wasn't meaning you were wrong;). Partly it is to do with the ridiculous expectations that Sunderland fans have. Secondly a reaction to his being shafted in the transfer market by far more wiley managers and chairman. (£5m for Kenwyne Jones par example). David O'Leary tried the same thing when at Leeds, despite it being a richer city and bigger city than Manchester. It didn't wash, and I would be surprised if it worked on Sunderlands fans.
With the media, there are plenty of hidden agendas, I wouldn't believe anything about Beckham unless there is a quote to back it up. Even then I would be sceptical.

Not entirely true if you don't get trapped by bad traffic (knowing the freeway system and alt. routes is key). I made it to Vegas in 4 hours...:D
