We've already got 4 losses this year. We can't really afford many more and it's only the begining of October. PNE only has a single win so far this year. There's no reason why we can't and shouldn't win this one. And I say that with a lot of respect for PNE as a club that's built itself into one that can do well in the Championship without being over reliant on spending money. I thought they'd struggle last year when Davies left but they showed there's more to them than just that. But Saints are better. Time for win.

Struggling Preston belied their lowly position to send George Burley's Southampton side crashing 5-1 at Deepdale last night.

Karl Hawley, a free transfer from Carlisle, netted his first goal for North End to open the scoring early on, and although Billy Jones headed into his own net to bring the visitors level, Preston came roaring back after the break with four goals. Darren Carter fired home the rebound after Kelvin Davis saved his penalty and Chris Sedgwick headed home Hawley's cross before substitute Patrick Agyemang added two late strikes to complete the rout.
