We'll be very lucky if we escape the Mestalla with a draw. That place is hostile as hell and I believe Villa's on form as of late.

I think Grant/Roman are being shortsighted and should simply say no and rest him until the internationals are done and play Alex. If he does not put his head in everywhere and control the air he hurts the team but if he does put his head in, as we all know he will, he risks further serious injury and other players will surely "jump" a lot with their elbows or forearms extended and he could be out for a long long time or worse.

Time for the grown ups to say no for 4-6 weeks so he can heal all his knocks and get back to his JT form for the rest of the season.

Any word on when Carv will be back?

+1. You cant lead a team if you are the sidelines (so to speak). I will be watching this game through the fingers infront of my eyes

Problem is that if JT plays, he is probably going to have to play for England as well. Better to rest him, hold him out of the silly internationals, and have a healthy and fit captain when the league gets back into full swing. With all the problems we have right now, we cannot be risking future league form in CL games.

The eternal optimist :) It might happen though.

Those 'silly internationals' happen to be our euro qualifying games

Chelsea to win it 27-21 in triple overtime after both teams agree to play NFL style due to Avram Grant's lack of knowledge in football.

Oh and Drogba to simply barrel through Valencia's puny spaniard defensive line and get a hat-trick of touchdowns.

The fact that English is paid a huge salary to get players on the pitch probably a non-factor eh, and a couple of articles have said he wants to play against Doctor's orders.

Assuming at this moment, with Grant and without Lamp, that JT can make the difference in winning the match, with all his knocks, back, broken toe, calf, and this, is it worth the risk of losing him for weeks or months or worse for 1 cl match and 1 Bolton match...something to consider....when he could be rested now and during the internationals when we have no matches(sorry Andy) and perhaps heal all his knocks so he could get back to his old form for the rest of the year rather than have him hurt and at less than 100% all year...

And you know players are going to "accidently" hit the same spot to try and put him out of a match

Sometimes the corner has to throw in the towel for the black knight who will fight with no arms and legs for his own good and the longer term interests of the Club

If there was not so much pressure on Roman and his sycophant right now would the same decision be made...I wonder...

I have no access to the medical records so who knows but I did say long ago based on some experiance that Lamp should have been rested at the start of the year to heal his toe as other injuries to the legs and back often follow due to changes in how you run , cut etc....

ok, you can be the one to tell JT he isn't going to play, see how that goes.
