On other forums I see constant comments about us being a "mid-table club" again even though the last time we finished mid table was in 1995.

I'm also sick and tired of hearing without RA we'd be bankrupt and this telling them that we have a trustfund. (I'd like some links so I can prove this one idiot wrong please.)

And my personal favorite, everyone telling us to go easy on Avram Grant despite the fact that he's not qualified!

Geez.

yes but were these on arsenal manure and liverscum forums as they would say that coz they used to be the old top 3 but now we have entered that as the top 4 they arent happy and now we are having a bad start they think that we arent in there little league anymore

just thought they probrably think that because we only had one really good manager that we shouldn't be in there but arsenal havent had really any brilliant managers apart from arsene wenger and manure have only had like alex ferguson

Well if they are Arsenal supporters, simply laugh at them. They think playing 2 months of the start of a season well means that they can forget they haven't won shit for over 3 years.

And all this crap about Roman leaving and leaving Chelsea to rot like Leeds, if Roman sold Chelsea he wouldn't sell it with a loss so we are bound to get a high bid. Resulting in somebody with money to put into the club, it's a constant cycle.

I love how Chelsea fans' collective memory starts only 4 seasons ago.

Well my collective memory goes back to the 60s and 70s when we beat Arsenal regularly

So what? Concerning this argument all we'd get then are Arsescum fans saying that they have more history than us.

Cant speak for the other posters in other forums but yeah I am concerned that Chelsea could fall back to mid table status. Right now they are playing that way and the structure of the club could push it into a free fall. I dont think Grant is the guy to get you through and whoever comes in the structure of the club must be such that the problem JM had dont exist when a new manager comes in.

As you will see from a prior post (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12795246&postcount=38)I Have no intention on wishing ill on the club except for in the context of my team one-upping yours, but the risk of Chelsea being in trouble is real. Maybe not Leeds real but real none the less. I hope Abramo-ass fixes this soon cause the EPL was exciting for hte last several years and I dont want that to go away. Along with the way Man City is looking tehy may end up making thier way in the top 4 at the expense of Chelsea. Personally I prefer it being a top 5 if Citeh can consistently stay in the upper echelons the way Chelsea made it a top 4. (It may be too ealry to start singing City praises but they are looking good)

But if I was a Chelsea fan I would be concerned about what the decisonmakers are doing over there.......... I guess the Valencia game today is going to help me see what direction Grant's Chelsea is taking.

Well, in some fans minds 1995 was not that long ago... A lot of people will see Chelsea's success as 'recent'.

Without RA, Chelsea may not have gone bankrupt or done a 'Leeds'. However they did have significant loans that required urgent payment, and would have required major players to be sold to make those payments. It is highly unlikely that Chelsea would have enjoyed anything like the success they have had in the last few seasons without RA. Without his investment, Chelsea could be looking at Everton and Villa as their main competitors rather than Manu and Arsenal.

Personally I think Chelsea will still make the top 4. Whatever the problems, you're a better team than Everton, Villa, or Blackburn or any other team that would be trying for 5th. However, of course Arsenal fans are going to find it funny that the man that bought you all this success is now doing a pretty job of tossing it all up.

just thought they probrably think that because we only had one really good manager that we shouldn't be in there but arsenal havent had really any brilliant managers apart from arsene wenger and manure have only had like alex ferguson

Oh dear, both Arsenal and Manu have had some very good managers other than their present ones.

Why don't you ask the originator of this thread then, as he clearly does.

Like you I don't lose a whole lot of sleep over anti-Arsenal. But if the guy asks the question, then why not answer it ?

And what the feck is middle school, my memory is pretty poor these days...

He didnt ask anythng about our success being attributed to Roman you brought that up on your own accord(only debt and the trust fund were mentioned).

middle school....well I think different backgrounds and countries means different terminologies. for me it was 6-8 grades, 11-13 years old I think.

Given that he was concerned over comments about being described as a 'mid table' club and 'without RA we'd be bankrupt' it's hardly a big step is it ??

Sure it is. It had nothing to do with it. The mid table club was a slight about our position in the table now, and where said perceived fan thought we were before Roman. Obviously we have been far worse of in the past, but we did qualify for the CL the season before ROman, and were mostly in or near the top 5 in the decade leading up to the purchase. In the last 15 years our results put us 3rd in t he table, we havent been mid table in awhile. That was the point.

The debt issue concerned what happens if he leaves tomorrow, this has been addressed so many times and is another comment probably based on ignorance.

The success comment is one other fans see as some sort of slap in the face to say well you wouldn't be at this level of success without Roman. Who gives a shit? how many times do people need ot bring it up? It happened, it was fair and legal, and here we are time to get over it. It's like arguing with you about your possible take over and bringing up buying your way out of relegation or how your team better fits in Ligue 1 than the Prem, off topic, and just annoying.

Agreed, whilst never quite challenging for the title pre-Roman you were certainly in the top section whilst spending money well beyond your means...

Well, personally I took his comment as being bankrupt without Roman as 'If we hadn't had Roman we would be bankrupt' as opposed to 'if Roman went now we'd be bankrupt'. If the 2nd is the correct one, then yes I'd agree, it ain't gonna happen. Obviously Roman can't just walk away.
