6 million pounds according to various links.
What do you think? Sven really seems to want him, I heard he's been admiring Roman for a long time now and has dreamed of working with the Argentine playmaker ever since he owned England's midfield in a friendly, more then a year ago.
A year ago I would have thought: no way, career suicide. But with the way City has been playing now and Sven's vision of playing attractive, attacking football this could actually work out. Offcourse you'd need to accustom you're midfield to Riquelme's needs so he's free to do what he wants.
You'd also be even more lethal on set pieces.
The downsides: his pace and the possibility of him being marked out of games. But this might not be an argument because players like Elano and Petrov can relieve him of his pressure and take over when it's needed.
Besides Sven knows what he's doing.
Hell can you imagine Riquelme and Elano on a midfield together, crazy times...
Thoughts?

I think Riquelme would be useless if he joined before Elano, but if we do get him I think he will be deadly with fellowing CAM Elano. However, I don't think he'd be here for very long, Juan Roman is a risk, as he can either be a game changer or he can be completely useless. Hopefully he stays in form for the next couple years if we get him, because we don't need to invest on an old player who falls apart once we spend millions on him.
(I'm not sayin Juan Roman will completely fall apart, I think he would overall be a good investment but we have to recognize there is always the risk. He did excellent in Copa Libertadores for Boca and hopefully this form continues)

Trust Sven - He knows what hes doing!!! If he wants Riquelme then he knows he will work in his team. Riquelme for £6m is a steal, day-light robbery if its true. But personally I'd rather have a team than individual superstars, and having Riquelme could unbalance things but if he could fit him into a side WITH Elano then jesus christ.

I really don't see requelme combining at all, with elano. They are both fantastic creative forces in the attack mid, but i don't think you can get away with 2 midfielders having carte-blanche and not leaving holes in the d. But like Alan said "Sven knows what he's doing" so i digress.

Why would you want Riquelme, All he is going to do is disrupt their(thus far) fantastic team chemistry, He plays in the position Elano and I know who I would prefer. Unless Sven can somehow use a rotation policy that works and makes the team work good with both players I strongly advise to get somebody more along the lines of Owen Hargreaves type player

I think it's better to get a true RM or RW to replace Ireland, rather than get Riquelme and risking conflict with Elano. Ireland is good prospect for the future but he's not Prem material YET.
Anyone suggest a good RM for Sven to get?

Darijo Srna at Shaktahr Donetsk. Get him whipping those perfect crosses into big Peter Crouch to knock them in.

Only vids of his goals but his crossing is amazing. We do need a RM but til then give Geo a run out. I dont know why hes not starting!

Firstly, Darijo cost not lower than 20 mln dollars.
We do need a RM but til then give Geo a run out
In Shakhtar he plays as RWB.

Shakhtar, not Shaktahr, remember that
IMHO, Riquelme is not the best option for MC

Man City is in third plas thus far, but have scored only 18 goals, where teams above and below have score more.
Man City has a great style of play right now, and i think the only way to improve that is to add more firepower. I dont know if a CM, or CAM is the best route to go.
Elano is playing well, and i see no reason to add another player of the same position.
Save the money, then during the january transfer season lets get a forward that can be a game changer.
Im not saying that the current City forwards aren't good, but we need to start scoring more goals if we want to stay in the top 4.

He has a permanent deal with Boca now, so it's a dead issue.
