Also of note in that article, "Rangers have also installed Italian Franco Ceravolo as chief scout as part of an overhaul following the recent dismissal of John Gregory. Ceravolo, who previously worked at Juventus, will be based in London but is expected to use his European contacts."

Important step, particularly after QPR were forced to more or less totally dismantle their scouting system as they couldn't afford it. Lots of news around that the management and financial side of things is getting a sorely needed good strong overhaul.
It's amazing how much change is going on around QPR these days, even the biggest skeptics of it all seem to at least be in a better mood.
Happy days, now if they can just get the on-the-field stuff sorted...:D
Still think we're getting an italian manager who's close to Flav/Bernie, which rules out Roeder to the best of my knowledge.

Well it sounds like they're going to give Roeder a lot of consideration. We'll find out more after his interview in the papers tomorrow...

Wow, forget where I read it but I had seen somewhere that Vialli and Costacurta were back in the leading positions. I wonder where Sky gets its info. Anyway Roeder could be good, he has a rep at being good at picking talent, and lets face it that's what QPR needs at the moment.
Speculating is fun isnt it? Beats the shit out of "are we going to go into administration next week".

There's a rumor (http://www.qprdot.org/viewtopic.php?t=13011) that Paul Jewell has been interviewed by the R's.

I think anyone with a history of heart problems should steer well clear of the Rs.

Today's rumored candidates...
Glenn Hoddle (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/2007/10/05/hoddle-in-line-for-qpr-top-job-89520-19900046/)
Les Ferdinand (http://www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2007/10/05/Championship-Les-Ferdinand-on-QPR-job/) (!)
I think Les is a long shot, but it's good to hear, "QPR will always have a place in my heart," he said, "I would consider going back in any capacity in order to help the club move forward."
And how about Ferdinand's employers posting (and creating?) the story themselves. A bit of self-promotion me thinks...

Over on the dot.org board, someone claims their dad is friends with Hoddle, who informed that he was approached by QPR, but wasn't interested. Take that for what it's worth, I suppose.

The Daily Mail citing the Evening Standard (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=486546&in_page_id=1779&ito=1490):
Italian manager Francesco Guidolin is leading the race to succeed John Gregory at Queens Park Rangers, according to the London Evening Standard.
The club are believed to want a foreign coach despite being linked in the last week with Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle, Glenn Roeder and Paul Ince and intend to make an announcement in the next 48 hours.
Guidolin, 52, is seen as a journeyman manager in Italy and has been sacked no fewer than four times in a 21-year coaching career with 12 clubs.
However, he won the Italian Cup with Vicenza in 1997 and led them to the European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final the following year when they lost to Chelsea.
Guidolin had two spells with Palermo, twice qualifying for the UEFA Cup, yet in his second stint he was sacked with a month of the season to go, only to be reinstated two games later.
He has been out of work since leaving Palermo in May but attended QPR's first win of the season against Norwich last night, and was joined in the Loftus Road directors' box by supermodel Naomi Campbell and 'It Girl' Tamara Beckwith who were guests of new QPR owner Flavio Briatore.
Jesus Guidolin sounds perfect for the R's, doesn't he. ;) I guess we're not big enough for the Viallis or Hoddles just yet, even with all that dough. The next year is going to be tough on whomever they bring in, no doubt about it, which is why I wouldn't have minded Roeder, who seems to at least have a decent track record at spotting and developing talent.
I wonder what, if any, consideration Mick Harford is getting.

According to the Ealing Gazette (http://icealing.icnetwork.co.uk/sport/qpr/tm_headline=hotseat-offered-to-former-palermo-manager%26method=full%26objectid=19923396%26siteid=67372-name_page.html), it looks like it'll be Francesco Guidolin.
ITALIAN Francesco Guidolin has been offered the QPR manager’s job.
The former Monaco coach is expected to be confirmed as Rangers boss before the home game against Ipswich a week on Saturday.
Guidolin has been sacked four times during a 21-year coaching career in which he won the Italian Cup with Vicenza in 1997 and had two spells in charge of Palermo, twice qualifying for the Uefa Cup.
The 52-year-old watched Rangers’ 1-0 win over Norwich on Monday night before returning to Italy.
He remains under contract with Palermo despite leaving his job there in May – a financial issue he is looking to settle so his future can be resolved.
No other candidates are now being considered for the Rangers job.
Guidolin has indicated that he will accept the offer made by the club's new Flavio Briatore-led board.
If he does not, Mick Harford is likely to have his spell as caretaker boss extended beyond the Ipswich game.
Briatore and his associates have always been minded to install an Italian as successor to the recently-sacked John Gregory.
Of the many English candidates, only former QPR defender Glenn Roeder was a serious contender, albeit briefly.
Ex-England boss Glenn Hoddle was approached but was not interested in the job.

Hmm - well that will certainly make the bookies happy! He wasn't really on the radar until this week.
The more I read about this guy the more I think he might be good for QPR. He's bounced around italian footy for awhile but as anyone who knows anything about Italian footy will tell you, that's par for the course. Hirings and firings are a matter of course in that place.
More to the point though he apparently had Palermo playing some really, really good footy last season in stretches. I wonder what he'll be able to do with essentially a blank check from Flav/Bernie.

Agreed - at least he's bounced around some decent clubs and had a fair amount of success in his travels.
