NYC version of the Sons of Ben?? Has anyone started anything like this? If we do we can get our own lobby going to get the team we want IN the boroughs.

I posted something like this in passing the New York 2 thread in passing. You might want to start looking for support there. If we ever get a NY expansion forum I would definite look for likeminded individuals there also. I think the interest in a NYC MLS team is there.

We should start a supporters club right now, we have to think of a name, chants, logo, etc...

Im def down! The name should be very NYC,something like The Gutter Boys or Broadway Boys. What is everyone elses suggestions? We are NY'rs so you know we can come up with some creative and nasty chants haha. There were alot of good names in the movie Gangs of New York that we can use. The Dead Rabbits,Bowery Boys,The Atlantic Guard. Just throwing some stuff out there.

Right, well I actually do support the existing team b/c it is the only one. But myself and many others are waiting for team in NY. Not one who uses our state name for advertisment. Your RBNJ,we'll be NY.

Sons of Ben and Phoenix Rising look to be good models on how to start a SC to help bring a team to NYC. Once a NYC SC starts getting organized we should definitely look at them for guidance. Hopefully by 2010 we'll all be in the MLS.

I originally though these names were lame, but after reading some NYC history books and seeing Gangs of New York again The Dead Rabbits is starting to sound pretty bad ass.

The Dead Rabbits always got their asses handed to them by the Bowery Boys. And the Hudson Dusters is a better name (see my sig :D )

Also, and this is key, use good role models.

Look around at MLS and see who has been successful and who hasn't. Learn from the mistakes of others and use what's worked elsewhere. The bland Europhile SG's (Dallas, KC, ESC) almost universally suck (Tornoto excepted). The latin-flavored ones are generally far superior (Houston, La Barra Brava and La Norte, Legion).

Empire is as bad an association I can think of since it hearkens to the complete and total lameness of New Jersey.

Europhile? ESC is hardly europhile or bland. Its actually a nice blend of european styles (England, Poland, Italy) and South American Styles (Argentina and Uruguay). I get really sick of seeing your uniformed stupid posts all over this website.

Empire? Once again you dont know shit and are just trying to be a dick.

If i could give any advise to people in NYC that are waiting on a second NY team (you'll be waiting quite a while) it would be to not listen to anything this guy has to say.

"New York" refers to the region, not city or state lines.

Has anyone started a supporters club based on the premise of not having a home team, when they do actually have a home team?

No, I don't think I've heard of such a thing. Truly original.

OK - I am taking some action - talking and arguing is not going to get us heard.

For those on MYSPACE -

http://groups.myspace.com/nycfcfans

I am working on a page just for the fans - If you are not on myspace i am sorry - i just figured this would be a great place to start. please email me at nycfcfan@gmail.com with some ideas on what we can do to get started. People might laugh at us but this has to start somewhere - I say it starts here!!!

Join the group if you are on myspace. If you can contribute in any way - please let me know! Anything helps - Things that will need to be done

An actual web page rather than myspace -
Ways to get us heard so the MLS takes us seriously

And if our name does not get announced this time around - we must not give up - we must keep going until we get what we want - Which is us all together in the stands watching our boys beat up on the RBNY!
