He would be #1 right now if you would rate our keepers in terms of skill. Only reason Kahn starts is because of all he's done for Bayern.

important news:
Kahn will face a surgery on his arm (same ellbow problems that caused his absence in the leverkusen game).
Kicker is quoting Hitzfeld, that he will be replaced by Rensing for at least 4 or 5 weeks.

Based on Saturday's game, it looks like Rensing has learned a few things from Kahn, especially with regard to protecting the ball once he gets his hands on it.
Rensing needs to be stronger with his hand clearances though. There were two times that I can remember where all he did was redirect the ball back in the box instead of clearing it away from any danger.
Still, I've never had any concern with Rensing's ability as a top goal tender. With more experience, he'll be a player worthy of standing in Bayern's goal.

I applaud Rensing's patience and professionalism. He's good enough to play for any BL team, or even outside the BL, but he stayed and learned. Bravo.

Well, this will give us a preview of what next season might look like with him in goal so in that sense its good. On the other hand, Kahn's experience is always good to have on the field and his presence and leadership is irreplacable.

i think Rensing will be a great keeper and right now is a very good one; it's dissapointing that Kahn is out now though :(

i'm very happy that the new goalkeeper will be from youngers. he could be something like valdés and casillas.
i'm sure rensing will be great but bayern have to get a new GK. maybe older (about 30) like abbiati. he is good but if he gets injured we need a good sub.

If he can play like he did in that CL start then we will be good

Statistics don't lie, right? If we are in agreement on this then this bares repeating...
...Bayern München has NEVER lost when Michael Rensing has been in net.
WOW.... and the 'trend' continues.

yea, but i think Casillas started for Madrid on a regular basis way before this point in Rensing's career. but then again Casillas didn't have a great in front of him really

He saved a class goal vs Nurnberg which hit the post last game. Fingertip save, and it was probably going to be goal of the month if it went in! I remember how Kahn couldn't get the 2 goals from far away that we conceded this season which I surely believe Rensing would have caught. Hopefully, Kahn stays injures for a few more months, until the season ends! :D

I read the 'fact' on FCBayern.de, so it must be gospel.

6. Michael Rensing:
Oliver Kahn is missing in Lisbon through injury, but his replacement diminishes Bayern’s chances of success not a whit. Michael Rensing is unbeaten in his 14 Bundesliga matches so far with 10 wins and four draws, and he’s not finished on the losing side in European competition either. Twice he played in goal against AC Milan in the Champions League, and twice the game ended in a draw. Why should this change in the UEFA Cup?

i didn't know whether Rensing played or not to be honest... but i looked it up and Kahn was actually between the sticks for us that match... so i must have been thinking a match or two earlier in that year where Rensing played, and well apparently did well
... not to hurt this man's building legend or anything ;)

hey, it ain't that bad, leave the man alone, respect your elders :p I read it the same way.
the way it is written it sounds like he has never lost, but it ignores the domestic cup. But come on, 1 loss in his whole career? not that bad.
