What do y'all think? Is it showing off or just showing mad skill?

Edit: His name is Kerlon, what he's doing is the Foquinha.

Well deserved..... but also worth it.

Well deserved..... but also worth it.

I just don't see it was "well deserved" - it was a clumsy challenge no more .... yellow card for sure - but I have heard some people in Brasil call for a prison sentence!! just stupid - if a player is dribbling with his feet, you can go in with your feet ... if you "dribble" with your head, then you can go in with your head ... what? should defenders just stand around and marvel? ffs ....

the punishment is harsh

i read somewhere that another player said the seal dribble is wrong, because it breaks a code of conduct for soccer players

which i could see, like disco said, what are they supposed to do in that situation?

Not sure but you can't just throw a forearm shiver.

I do not disagree in that case - the point being any play with the head will open possibilities of a clash of heads, elbows etc etc ... if a player deliberately concentrates the play on his head, he is upping the possibility of an injury ... the fact is the game has been increasingly deifying the forward player at the expense of the defender for a while ... it is increasingly difficult to take the finest players of today seriously when they not only have not had to ride a tackle in their lives ... they are encouraged to hit the floor at any hint of a challenge ... the physical aspect of the game is valid, and it is largely why players like Pele and Best were so exciting.... their finesse foiled brute force - you don't need to do that nowadays...

sorry ... getting carried away ... but I stand by what I said...it was a clumsy challenge... no more ... Kerlon needs to grow up a bit, if he thinks that bouncing it on his head gives him a some kind of right to not be tackled ... and then he needs to think about where that tackle will inevitably take place ...

The seal dribble is a tool, so why not use it. If the player does it a lot of times in the same game though, he better expect a fist (or an elbow) on his face.

I don't see it as something that's all that hard to defend against.

Much the same as you can push a player off the ball as they dribble with their feet, it's even easier to push someone that's seal dribbling...

Whatever stadium Foquinha steps in, there should be one of these (http://www.guzer.com/pictures/kitty_sniper.jpg) ready for whenever the seal dribble happens.

What's crazy is that Coelho hits Kerlon and doesn't go after the ball or finish the play– he just hits him and stands there, like saying "What now foo!" Then he bends down and says something to him, probably about how he's breakig some code.

Looks like they were playing rugby or something. The punishment is harsh, maybe a week.

That is why you are not a referee or a professional footballer.

It was not a clean hit at all. All he had to do was put his body on him a little and the ball would've bounced away to another player eventually. The brute force was not necessary. He got owned and it showed.

It was nothing but a stiff shoulder. A red card and 3 match ban would have sufficed.

Portuguese is the gayest language ever.

One thing I noticed what Kerlon does when he begins the seal dribble is that he starts going to areas where he will get a better position because he knows he'll eventually get fouled and receive a free kick or even a penalty. It's a cheap tactic in my opinion.

That tackle was a bit hard but the punishment was too harsh.

i think the seal dribble should be outlawed imo.

much like playing excessively with the ball while you're on the ground

is there a way to take the ball away? sure, but it isn't going to be pretty. he's just putting himself in danger

It was a foul but it wasn't even worth a yellow, this guy does it to tease the opposition, and I got no beef on players doing this kind of shit, but at the same time guys that do pull that king of tricks are fair play for that kind of retaliation..........
