Yeah that glorious Newark skyline. It's so comparable to Toronto's.

Years down the road, when Red Bull bounces, they should re-name the team Brick City FC, cuz this is pretty much a New Jersey team now.

and it isn't a jersey team playing in giants stadium?

NYFC - the traing ground will open in 2008 the stadium will open 2009

i am just saying, the company who is doing the stadium mite be the same company who is doing the training ground

So that mite be the reason why they are going slow

There goal mite be finish early 2008 on the traing ground and put up a stadium just like RSL is doing in a years time

If they havent tried to put up the stadium in a years time since last year when they broke ground, you can surely bet its going to be past 2009 if at all.

but its not hard to make what 2 grass and 2 turf fields and a indoor field and a fitness traing house.... it could be done in 4-6 month.... but knowing RBNY it will be longer

What ticks me off about the Red Bull organization is that you would think they would have SOMEONE, ANYONE, prowling the boards here to hammer out questions their fans have. It seems as though they have no interest at all in keeping fans happy and informed of the events. A weekly, hell, even monthly account of where they stand in construction and what is planned per week/month would ease lots of tension. You know, like a massage with happy ending! :p

to get us

It's not to get you. It's to raise awareness of the fans and to create pressure on the front office to offer more information. Listen, the fans are the ones that PAY THE BILLS at the of the day. So please give up more information on the BULL RING! Don't you agree. Since when, did the rule change that the customer is NO LONGER RIGHT? Please speak up and out!

that maybe one thing I can agree with you on. RB should definately keep us updated on the progress of the construction so that we dont have discussions such as this.

All they do in keeping silent is cause speculation and rumors to spring up all over. Shouldn't your hard core fans be your secret weapon in marketing your team? They via word of mouth, these boards and other media are like a major marketing force. Why on earth would you want to not employ them? I mean seriously I've seen some pretty dedicated RBNY fans on these boards. Hell if I was the FO of RBNY I would be feeding them info left and right to get them to disseminate the news as fast as possible and not spend a dime on marketing and advertizing.

Thats how its done all over the world! Why should the Red Bulls do any different. At the end of the day its all about respect!

You know, this team used to have a front office that did prowl these boards and would issue periodic statements on the progress of the stadium. They issued so many statements, and so many of them turned out to be inaccurate, that the front office was ridiculed. You may have heard posters on these boards jokingly refer to something happening in "60 to 90 days". Many fans of this team wished the front office would speak less.

Now, we seem to have swung the other way, with a front office that doesn't issue a statement every time some 14 year old on Big Soccer cries about the stadium not being built yet. Maybe RBNY isn't talking because, right now, there's not a whole to talk about. Just a thought.

The difference here being that most of the people bitching are not Red Bull fans.(Or perhaps I should say the biggest bitcher of the bunch isn't)

i am not bitching...but i would like to know why the camera is frozen...wouldnt you?

Seems to me the solution is to be transparent and deliver factual information. Crazy, I know. It would never work.

Cause MLS has done that, ever. :D

Pretty accurate statement. And that's why, after a good long time, my trust in what comes out of MLS, much less anything coming out of the exponentially more shady and opaque RB, is worn down to a nub. What keeps everyone else hanging on their words and promises, I don't quite understand.

This idea of them backing out of the stadium is badly misguided because they could never make money playing at the new Giants stadium even with a much better lease. Unless Red Bull or MLS doesnt mind tossing away money forever on the NY franchise it doesnt make any sense. Also, didnt the town of harrison already float bonds for this project? Kind of too late to back out, isnt it?

The redevelopment of Harrison isnt just the stadium deal. Its a multi layered brownfield project. Its part residential and part commercial real estate redevelopment. The stadium is part of the project. This doesnt mean that if the stadium falls through, the whole harrison project is off and vice versa. I would wager that the residential and commercial aspect of the project are of greater significance to the Town of Harrison than the Stadium. Im sure someone can put numbers to the thing and figure out that the residential and commercial ventures will probably bring about more tax revenue and increased economic activity than will the stadium alone.
Anyhow the stadium deal seems real shaky lately. Unexplained delays, supposed environmental cleanups etc etc. Sounds like spin to me. What's really going on? If it truly is a delay then why doesnt the FO say so? Why dont they say "listen we are going to be delayed again"?
