Well done, Cristiano! 21 league goals now!
Also we're finally getting assists through the middle. It'll make a massive difference to our season.

I'm getting frustrated with our Ronnie...
He'll score two against Pompey, but then will go missing against City and Lyon, then suddenly he's back on the scoresheet for Newcastle. It's getting on my nerves.
It's shit like that, that stops him from being a certified WPOTY winner.

To be fair it would be nice for a few of these goals to be in the big, tight games

I don't really think that's possible imo.
For you to score 2 against everybody, you would probably have to have a 100% record which is hard to so. So Ronnie could be suspended, subsituted, rested or injured thus meaning he doesn't have a chance of scoring goals against absolutely everyone. Fatigue also plays a massive part. Plus most teams try to tighten up after conceding a goal, so that may be another factor. Defenders could start hacking him out of fear if he goes on an unnatural run of scoring two goals against everyone like that. Also he may be under instructions from Fergie to take off his shooting boots and play a more team game.
Hopefully this helps with your question.:)

You mean the games where he has 3 defenders marking him?
You have to understand that Ronaldo is a wide player. He is meant to create plays from the side. The reason his goal tally is amazing is because he is not expected to score goals like he is doing.
For some reason, people think he needs to be converted to a striker (with a striker focus) in order for him to be the best player in the world. Thats bullshit. The goals are a bonus, his contribution to the team play is far greater than just scoring goals. In fact, his greatest contribution is probably creating space for others.

I get all that but if he doesn't do much at all, including scoring, in those matches. I don't care if five guys are on him, he could at least find the opener player. I love Ronaldo but sometimes he becomes resigned to his fate that he is going to be marked out of a game and there is much he is going to do.

Try watching a little closer. Ronaldo constantly plays the game like that...attract 3-4 players then pass out to open space.

I watch the games plently close and when he only gets himself open 5 times in total in those matches, and all he does is that. We do have a problem.

That's to be expected of every great player. Note Messi, Ronaldinho in his prime, Kaka, Totti, etc... Ronaldo is just expected to step up in big games, rather than sulking and sitting out because he's not getting the same space he does against weaker sides.
You have to understand that Ronaldo is a wide player. He is meant to create plays from the side. The reason his goal tally is amazing is because he is not expected to score goals like he is doing.
Actually, he's played a more forward role for us more and more frequently, and he actually is now expected to score. Admittedly not as many as he's scoring and that's more of a reflection about how few goals we can get from other areas of the pitch.
For some reason, people think he needs to be converted to a striker (with a striker focus) in order for him to be the best player in the world. Thats bullshit. I don't think anyone is expecting him to be converted to a striker role, he's exactly where he needs to be. He's a wide player who drifts into the center A LOT and scores goals.
This argument isn't about his lack of contribution because we know what he can offer us when he's on. The problem is in big games, he has a tendency to dissappear, and that's not only because he's double marked. He becomes complacent oftentimes and feels almost like he deserves to get the amount of space he has against weaker teams and on a day where he's shut out, he oftentimes shuts himself down to instead of making that extra effort to break away from it. This also doesn't mean that that can't be changed. He's still young, he's already made incredible strides and if this becomes a pattern, he will begin to understand he has to step it up.
