Don't know where exactly to post this...but, apparently Manchester United have scored the most goal in league action this year (44), and have the lowest allowed goal in the league as well (11).

What is our goal difference?:D

Rooney has officially been deducted for his goal against Arse crediting it to an own goal by Gallas. But I dont think DS included that one anyway so its fine

what's really suprised me is how few goals WH have conceded. They conceded somewhere in the region of 60 (61 iirc) but so far have just let in 20 goals.

I was quite surprised that Tevez has scored 10 league goals and two in Europe.

It is only January so he could get to twenty goals easily.

I'm slightly surprised that we don't have any assists from central midfield.

Guess some assists from that area miss out on the "direct assist" thing as a player is more likely to take an extra touch or two when threaded in from that part of the pitch. Still, thought we might've had at least one.

It was pretty hard to see this coming when we started off with five 1-0's this season. But thank god for statistics :D

Nani is leading the team for assists in credible given the playing time he has been getting and the new league thing etc.. Im very disappointed with Anderson's productivity though, stats don't mean everything, but they certainly count.

Me was bored during English class and I calculated these amazing facts:
The average age of our squad is 25 1/2, which is perfect for prime years of football.
Also %60 of our players wear Nike boots
% 28 wear Adidas
and % 12 wear "other"

The direct assist thing is part of it. Remember Anderson's wonder pass? Also, assists are nice, but remember how many chances Carrick laid on a plate for Rooney against Newcastle? Probably 3 or 4. Had Rooney bagged those we'd see more from CM. I think creativity in CM is not a problem for United. Anderson is definitely creative and if Carrick finds his form he's also creative (in a different but effective way) and we all know that Scholes is wonderful. However, I think that in the end our front three limit the chances our CM can create because of their style of play. We've essentially got 3 players with free roles AND a winger/cm in our system. It makes for a lot of movement sure, but most of it is deep and it sets up lanes for passes by CMs but the forward players generally get it early into our attack and then work the ball amongst themselves. This is thanks to the brilliant link up play by Tevez AND Rooney. We've also got to consider that Ronny, despite his goal tally is passing more this season than he ever has with us, so there's just such a fluency among our front three that we don't need creativity from elsewhere.

Don't worry bout Anderson. He's winning balls, distributing well and sparking our attack. He's had several passes that lead to a pass which leads to a chance/goal. As long as he's playing well, I'm happy and he's been playing VERY well.

Nani's output IS a bit surprising. I think his crossing is good, but his 2 biggest assets are his corners which we seem to score from frequently, and his decision making in the final third.

I know many people rag on him for poor play and poor decisions but as I've said in the past, he makes very mature decisions when close to goal. He knows not just when to cross but how. He's hit several driven low balls that have led to chances and has floated a couple crosses to the far post and dinked some balls to the near post. He's a proper winger and would be at home in many a 433 where providing and scoring goals is his brief.

I think that even though we are getting the creative passing and runs from Tevez, Rooney, and Ronaldo we still need a CM who can make those 'magical passes'. Scholes is this player, his pass to Rooney in last years CL semi vs. Milan to tie it 2-2 was a brilliant example. Carrick is a really smart passer when he is on form, but these fantastic passes from midfield is where we really miss Scholes.

Well it's January and Ronaldo has already equalled the record for most PL goals scored by a midfielder (which he incidentally set).

He should definitely have his targets on 26 league goals so as to beat Le Tissier's (unofficial) record of 25 league goals in the 93-94 season.

This is from the official web-site in an interview after the Reading game:

Rooney revealed his frustration at the Dubious Goals Committee’s recent decision not to credit him with the opener in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal in November.

“I don’t know who gives and doesn’t give these goals,” he said. “Over the last three years, (Chelsea midfielder) Frank Lampard has had about 50 deflected goals and never had one took off him.:D:D

He scored them when they played 42 league games a season that's why I don't think people mention them.
