Including these players:Alegria,Convey,Curtis,Eskandarian,Etcheverry,Ivanov,Kovalenko,Namoff,Nelson,Olsen,Petke,Prideaux,Quaranta,Stewart, and Stoitchkov what SHOULD be the main lineup? My comments are it seems that DC United has too many players in the midfield.Do you move Nelson to the back four?Do you bench Etcheverry and Stewart? Where on the field is best for Convey to play?Is Curtis the only one that can play up top and stretch the defense, or do you play Quaranta up top?........It seems that DC United has alot of questions but they are GOOD questions. What would you do?......P.S. SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT STOITCHKOV BUT HE IS CLEARLY THE BEST PLAYER ON DC UNITED AND HE ONCE WAS BEST IN THE WORLD.

-----------------------Curtis---------------
-----------Hristo---------------------------
-----------------------Convey-------------
Dema---------------------------------Olsen
---------------------Nelsen----------------
Ivanov-----Prideaux------Petke-----Namoff

no, i did not miss last night's game against the fire, i watched from about the 20th minute. put him in for quaranta behind curtis if you want.
i purposely did not start stoichkov because i do not feel that he fits in the formation i put above. i also do not feel that stewart is being played in the right position by ray. if you look at where earnie playes for the national team he is on the right flank withdrawn a bit. whereas ray plays him more centrally and forward and, crucially expects him to be one of the primary goalscorers. part of the reason why stewart plays so well for arena is that he is not under the pressure that i feel the coaches, not to mention a tremendous number of people on this board, have put on him. stoichkov is an excellent player but i do not think he can keep things up the way he is going and if he doesn't score against san jose i guarantee at least five people on these boards (generally, not specific people) will call for him to be benched for the rest of the season.
i feel like a lot of people on here are very loyal when it comes to this team but even more fickle when it comes to individual players.
play stewart where he's supposed to be and i guarantee you'll stop complaining about him. and once that happens you won't need stoichkov.

With all players healthy and on form, it would look like this:
----------------------Rimando--------------------
----Reyes-----Prideaux-------Petke-----Ivanov---
-----------------------Nelsen--------------------
----------Olsen--------------------Stewart------
--------------------Convey-----------------------
------------Eskandarian------Quaranta------------
Now, that's just what I would love to see. I'd like to have two young exciting forwards up top, and the rest of the team is very good.

I said this lineup on "The Soccer Show" last Monday..
With available players now:
-------- Rimando ---------
Ivanov -- Petke -- Prideaux -- Namoff
Olsen --- Nelsen --- Convey --- Dema
------- Stewart --- Curtis -------
I just don't see how you can take Nelsen out of defensive midfield.. He is the best d-mid in MLS right now and he has a towering presence in an already diminutive United midfield.. His move into that slot along with Curtis up top have been the key moves to our "resurgence".. You can tell that Ivanov is much more comfortable on the right side of defense than on the left, but once Reyes gets back to full fitness, he will be a backup unless Namoff takes a nosedive in effectiveness, which I don't see coming anytime soon..
With all players available:
------- Rimando -------
Reyes --- Petke -- Prideaux --- Namoff
Olsen ---- Nelsen --- Convey --- Dema
--------- Stewart --- Curtis ----
I know a lot of you will question why I put Stewart up top, but IMHO the pairing of Curtis and Stewart is more than about scoring goals, it's about the pressure that they can put on defenders for 90 minutes.. You can't get that effort from Hristo or Tino yet and Eskandarian is still too green at this point.. I know Earnie has struggled but most of that I think is due to his being jerked all over the field by Trudson.. Put him up top and leave him there...

So long as it's a 4-4-2 I don't care. That formation works for us.

I've got MY LINEUP right here, w/what we have now:
-------Rimando
Prideaux-Nelsen-Petke
------Etcheverry
Olsen-------Kovalenko
--Stoitchkov
Eskandarian-Quaranta
As soon as I can get a plane ticket for Serna, he's in at target forward. Then I get the other forward by trading one or two of our 7 attacking midfielders.

Nice all-time team you had, but I think this is the key...everyone acts as if Rimando is infallable but some of his mistakes are so laughable they make Presthus look good.
I would like to see Warren in cage this Wednesday.
