Heard he's on the bench for Karlsruhe and was man of the match in only his 2nd reserve game.

Let's see if I can prove all you wrong with prediction of him getting some (a good amount of) games this season and going to Euro2008.

if we wouldnt be in germany there might be a chance for it but u can be sure that Kroos wont go to the EC if he doesnt set the BL on fire (and that is a bit too much expected).
Lets just hope that he gets some minutes this season and keeps developing. His time will come after the EC.

Squid, you sure are on the Kroos kool-aid. A 17 year old who just played his first match for the second team is suppose to be in Germany's squad for the EC, in less than a year from now?

why not?
schweini and poldi were in EC04 and they were young. nobody had heard of poldi until the last 5 games of that season and schweini was not playing that much for bayern either. Kroos has already proved his worth at different youth levels and he could well be in the EC squad. we have Odonkor, Kuranyi, Hanke, and so many other young and worthless people who will probably never amount to anything so why not give him a chance?

Schweinsteiger played 26 bundesliga games season 03/04. That's 26 games Kroos won't get near those numbers with our current team. Podolski played 19 bundesliga games and scored 10 goals for Köln. Again Kroos won't get near those numbers of matches for the first team due to our current team being packed. Schweinsteiger and Podolski both had experience with senior football before stepping into the bundesliga, something that Kroos does not have at this point.

Surprised it took Squid this long to make a thread.

And remember, this is the Bayern forum...not the NT forum.

Fingers, you're really strict man.. Squid, I'm not really sure if Kroos can really make it in Euro 08. He might, but it'll be damn hard. If he makes it and Marin doesn't however, it would be insane! I think Kroos should be called up after Euro 08 and get him plenty of games so he can be our star for World Cup 2010. Kroos also needs a lot of games to play which the question arises. Can he get some game times with our stacked team?

Makkay, while I agree that Odonor & Hanke are worthless, but Kuranyi? He might even be our starter for Euro which I HOPE he isn't (since Gomez should start ;)). Kuranyi's place for Euro is set in stone along with Klose and Gomez. I think Kroos may get some games next season for Bayern, maybe play 6-7 games this season.

Obviously you haven't been around here a long time, otherwise, you would know quite the opposite is true. If you want to test me though, that's cool.

And since this is going to be a focus of more NT speculation, I am moving it to the NT forum

The fact is that you guys keep ignoring how good he is and keep mentioning his age and other irrevelant things.

The fact is, his understanding of a game is better than Schweinsteiger or Podolski still have.

This is why I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the Euros.

After all, none of you expected him to do so well in the reserves in 2 games, or to be on the bench for bayern twice in a row now.

Even if he is an overall better player than Poldi and Schweiny, he won't get picked for the team simply because he is so green. And Poldi and Schweiny were picked for EC 04 at a time when German football was all out of ideas.

Our team is more than stocked at the moment. I want Kroos in the NT as fast as possible as well but wouldn't be devestated if he wasn't picked next year. There is plenty of time for him to develop.

How many games he's played in the BL and what he has showed on senior level is irrelevant?? If that is irrelevant, what argument should Löw use if he was to select him for the EC squad? What should justify putting him in the squad before other established Bundesliga players? No U17 WC crap please.

to be on the bench for bayern twice in a row now.

He was not on the bench today.

Because he is damn good.

A coach shouldn't need any other reason to play someone.

He was not on the bench today.

He was supposed to be. Why wasn't he?

Another reason why Schweinsteiger and Podolski were called up was because Germany sucked back then.

Loew has a plan right now and I think none of it includes Kroos atm. I'd rather see Streit, Meier, Federico (if he decides to be German) get a look in.

Kroos is amazing, but I agree with the consensus that he doesn't have enough top tier play under his belt to be much use next summer.

But whoever said Kuranyi is worthless is on some Haterade. I'm a Bayern fan, but Kuranyi is sick.

I bet none of you can explain what "top tier experience" means.

So instead of using that line all the time, explain what the line means in it's place instead.

Here is my take : it means the confidence to play on the senior age level in bigger stadiums, with people who are much older, and with more media spotlight.

This part has nothing to do with football.

And while you play there you can improve as a player too, in whatever way is needed. This and the aforementioned "confidence" are mutually inclusive.

Kroos' game is so refined that it's not funny. Ie. he has the confidence...

He might not be needed by either bayern or germany right now to accomplish what they want, which is why they are taking it slow.

That's the only reason why.

Let's just see what happens shall we...

Actually, Kroos has played really well in the U17 World Cup, but the main thing is that not every 17 year old player who participated in the tournament is going to be good enough to make it to the senior level, while in Bundesliga most of the players have "completed" their game and of course it is much more difficult to play against them than some 17 year old kids. That been said, I still thing that Kroos is going to be a great player, but it is still too soon for him.

He was supposed to be. Why wasn't he?

Perhaps because Hitzfeld thought there was other players that should be in the squad instead of him. Or maybe he went home to see his old folks in Rostock, since he's been busy with the U17 and then Regionalliga football for Bayern.

After all, none of you expected him to do so well in the reserves in 2 games, or to be on the bench for bayern twice in a row now.

Hitzfeld has stated that he would train with the senior side and play with the reserves. That is why he was on the bench for the past 2 matches. He will get his chances this season, but I don't expect that he will play a large number of games until next year.

Trust in Hitzfeld, he knows how to develop youth talent. Kroos will be a star in the future, but I think EC08 is a little to soon for him.

I think too tired to play after the reserves so they left him out.

I never said large number. I said some games. Or maybe even a good number of games.

I said travel to Euro2008. That doesn't even mean start.

Do you think he will ever leave our Bayern in his career? He would easily be one of the greats if he stays, hopefully he never leaves.

I think from all the young guns, Marin should be the first to be called up and even play as a late sub for Euro 08. I agree with Squid on some things, the kid has everything, including confidence. The guy is going to play for Bayern II regularly now (MOTM last game for B2). I also agree that the only reason why he might not get called up for Euro 08 is because both Bayern & Germany are just too damn good right, so they don't bother rushing him.
