I agree with almost everything here, except I would give Stoitchkov the 7 and Curtis the 6 (or maybe a 6.5), since Hristo was more of a threat with his breakaway attempt that Curtis was.
And I didn't see enough of Esky to grade him at all.

Rimando 6 (solid performance, 1st goal couldn't be helped)
Namoff 7 (reliable and consistent as always)
Petke 8 (thorn in Chi side whole game)
Prideaux 6
Ivanov 4(7) (7 for the goal, otherwise inconsistent defending)
Olsen 9 (What a beautiful run and awesome goal. I thought I was looking at McBride.)
Kovalenko 5 (play was good until the 90th minute)
Nelsen 8 (Great bycycle kick clear and great leadership)
Quaranta 4 (still needs to hit the gym and track. Him and Etch can train together)
Curtis 5 (Please use your HEAD!!!!! You have the largest forhead on the team!!! Missing the Stoitchkov cross was unforgivable)
Eskandarian (didn't actually see him in any plays)
Stoitchkov 9 (Brilliant crosses and some amazing runs for a man his age. Man of the match!)

Actually, if he merely catches it, it could have been helped... I agree though, I thought he was solid outside of that bad start.. I think too many people are ripping at him for him coming out and punching that ball late in the match but nothing came of it.. Plays like that happen in a soccer match...

Rimando 3 - He is always looking to start the counter. This is the 2nd game in a row he allowed a stupid goal
Namoff 6 - If not for Rimando, this would be a shutout
Petke 7 - If not for Rimando this would be shutout
Prideaux 5.5 - If not for Rimando this would be a shutout
Ivanov 7.5 - Excelent goal
Olsen 7.5 - Excellent goal. He dominated his side the whole game
Kovalenko 6.5 - Excellent game, good at containment and good at bringing the ball up when under pressure. Should not have the red card.
Nelsen 6.5 - A normally solid game for him
Quaranta 6 - Solid game. One or two touches away from a goal
Curtis 6 - Solid game
Stoitchkov 8.0 - MOTM - he crosses the ball better than anyone in MLS
Eskandarian 5.0 - Needed to get control of the ball quickly once he came in. Unable to use the fresh legs to put pressure on Chicago

Actually he should have punched the first one. On the punch that you are refering to the punch was the right move there as well. The problem lies in the fact that he did not punch the ball out of danger was the error he made. Based on hte fact that he did not punch the first one and punched the second one poorly it is clear that he is not being taught this technique very well. (Yes that means you Vanole!! )
Rimando - 0 (for giving the fire their goal)

I've been reviewing the video like the zapruder film and after about 15 replays it looks like Petke goes up to head it. Rimando is coming from behind Petke and to the left. Back and to the left, Back and to the left....sorry....
Anyway, It looks like Petke partially screened him on his right so that when he went to grab it above Petke he had to lift his right elbow and was not able to get a good grip on it.
We all know what happened after that.

Maybe so, but clearly Rimando had a clean look and catch attempt on the first one.. Why on God's green Earth would a goalkeeper punch a ball away that hits him right in the hands? There was literally no danger in the immediate area.. Petke might have crossed his line of sight but it still would only merit a punching away if he didn't have his hands set to catch it.. From watching the replays countless times, he had ample opportunity to make a very routine grab in traffic.. That is what he is paid to do..
That is my main point.. This wasn't a situation like in the opener in KC were he merely slapped at the ball, he had a full frontal look at the chip and despite Petke being right there he still had a clean look at it and dropped it.. I've seen Nicky hold onto balls ten times harder hit than that one.. Bottom line is it should have been caught easily ...
