I almost forgot we have a league game tomorrow.
It will be a tough win after Thursday. I don't think we'll pull it off.

Hopefully 0-0. Clean sheet boys, come on.

Assuming that Arteta is fit, I'd like to see something like this...
--------Wessels
Neville-Yobo-Lescott-Baines
Osman-Jags-Cars/Grav-Arteta
----Johnson-Yakubu

Would be a good enough result but I reckon we can nick it. Another Joleon bullet should do it.

Don't see us winning this. Would be great to see us get our first clean sheet or have AJ get off the mark.

We were garbage by all accounts. When you start with a midfield of:
Osman-Neville-Jags-Pienaar
what can you expect?

I'm watching the replay now.

Woeful game. Defense was absolutely horrid! Overall, I thought Baines, Jags and Pienaar played decent. Osman needs to stop going for glory because his balls go into outer space and he loses the ball on a consistent bases. Every time we had fast brakes, midfield stopped the ball and passed it back! I did not even know Neville was on the field until the last 3 minutes of the game when he was taking free kicks. Yakubu looked like he just woke up when he came on, with McFadden not doing much either except whining because he was outplayed. Johnson and Anichebe were working hard, but just could not get passed Villa’s solid defending. Hibbert was not bad at some moments, but his crosses usually go to the opposing team.
Overall it was just painful to watch the Blues lob balls into the front with us losing the ball within five seconds. I think we might have played better against Metalist...
My whole optimism and excitement for this season is plummeting!

It sure wasn't a good game, but I don't think it's as bad as everyone made it out to be. In all honesty, neither team looked good enough to win, they just punished us for our mistakes.
We'll certainly look a different team once Arteta, Cahill, Gravesen return.
I also think Hibbert's improving. He can't go forward for crap, but he's still not totally awful. Neville, well, there's no defending him. Just not good enough to wear the armband.
As for the long balls, I can live with that, given the injuries. Villa's a tough team to play, particularly at home. This game was way, way different than the Metalist game.

If Moyes can bench Lescott (Blackburn home) then he should be able to bench Neville. Maybe even have de Silva start over him? He's just been shite...

I don't think de Silva is back from Burnley. Why not have Jags play instead?????

It was only a month loan. I think he came back this weekend.
What's with Osman? First 2 games showed brilliance but since has been dire. Pienaar was impressive yesterday though. Would love to see a midfield with Pienaar, Arteta, and Graveson. Would definitely help a strikeforce of Yak and AJ.

That's Osman for you. Good squad player, but not a regular starter.
I also agree about Pienaar. I'm more excited to see him and Cahill together.

Once Cahill is back, the offense should pickup
Yak - AJ
Pienaar - Arteta - Graveson - Cahill
Would bring more offense in.
Osman can sub in for Pienaar. Carsley for Graveson
Move Jags to D with Baines, Lescott and Yobo
Bench Hibbert and Stubbs for now.
