These are two completely contrasted numbers. Is the 250,000 the numbers of people who have visited BIG soccer and 27,770 people who are registered users. So the radio claimed that BIg soccer is 250,000 users is kinda bogus since out of those 250,000 users only 10% bother to register and be in part of the discussion and really come back regularly.

Can someone clear this up? thanks.
Does anyone know the number of people that is online at a given time or on a given day?

As of 2:17 am ET, there were 66 members and 68 guests logged in. (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/online.php?s=) That means over a half the people who were viewing the site at that time were not registered members.

Those "visitors" could be visiting for the first time, or they could just be lurkers who prefer to read than not post. On any message board site, I think you'll find that there are usually more lurkers than regular posters. And since lurkers count towards hits and unique visitor counts just like regular posters, I wouldn't call it bogus to include them as members.

I don't think that's wholly true. I'm pretty sure that anyone who a) isn't logged in or b) has the privacy settings checked in their profile appears as a guest.

There's privacy setting? Did not know that.
I was going to argue that BigSoccer remembers your userid and password so everyone would be logged in, but I guess quite a few members are posting from public computers.

I would be surprised if there were more than 4-5,000 regular users (posting within the last 30 days). There are thousands of dead member profiles.

What's our premium member (money generating) count?

Of which, obviously, I'm not one. Just curious.

Like in other discussion boards, there could be info. such as last login date and last post date in the user profiles.
