With the recent dismissal/resignation of Jose Mourinho, there has been speculation that his next job will only be with a superclub. Which lead me to this... who are the superclubs in Europe? This is my list, with some clubs after that are close to the superclub status:

Superclubs:
Chelsea
Liverpool
Manchester United
Real Madrid
Barcelona
AC Milan
Inter Milan
Juventus

Almost Superclubs
Bayern Munich (I know I'll catch some flak for this one, but that's OK, it's my opinion, we are all open to discuss/criticize it)
Arsenal

In which way is Inter better than Bayern?

Not better, but bigger, as in financially, plus the allure of playing in Serie A as opposed to Bundesliga. Like I said, I knew I'd catch flak for not putting Bayern Munich in the same class as Real Madrid or Manchester United, but I stand behind it. I just don't think this club has the luster as it once did.

im not a prem guy, but what kept you from keeping arsenal off that list.

Seems to me that they have the drawing power to attract some of the best.

and soon to be lots and lots of money due to the new stadium and selling the development where the old stadium was. (but yes, lots and lots of debt)

Arsenal has big money to spend... but they don't. They rather find diamonds in the rough and build them into big stars. That's why I didn't put them in the Superclub list, but I concur that they are at the very least close to that status.

Remove Inter from your list or add Bayern and Arsenal.
Bayern and Arsenal are able to compete with them above financially and in terms of supporters, sales, club members, success.

Or what are your requirements for a "superclub"?

Spending money on players?
American billionaire or Russian czar ownership?

In my mind the super clubs are:

Chelsea
Liverpool
Manchester United
Arsenal
Real Madrid
Barcelona
AC Milan
Inter Milan
Juventus
Bayren Munich

Thats it.

Then you have the next level of clubs right below them which would include Valencia, Lyon, Roma, Lazio, Newcastle, Porto, etc.

I think the point about Bayern not be a superclub and Inter being one is valid. It all comes down to what your definition of a superclub is. And I think most people's definition is of a club that consistently goes on the market and buys the best players available. This is something Milan, Inter, Juve, Real, and Barca have done for the past 30 years. And ManU and Chelsea have been doing for the past 5-10 years. Liverpool and Bayern did break the bank this year but they don't have a long enough track record of spending big to be considered a superclub. They are still massive clubs but their spending power is behind those other clubs.

This is right, but do Milan and Inter have an own big stadium?

Arsenal and Bayern do have.

And what does that have to do with being a superclub? Here is how you determine if you are a superclub. Let's imagine all the best players on the planet went on the market today(Kaká, Ronaldinho, C. Ronaldo, Eto'o, Messi, etc.). If your club has a realistic chance of signing them you are a superclub. And to my mind only Inter, Milan, ManU, Chelsea, Real, and Barca would be in the running for those star players. And once Juve gets it's bearings back in Serie A they will be in the running as well. Liverpool, Bayern, Arsenal, etc. go after the next rung of player.

Well then... Actually... I don't care about it. ...
Indeed I'm happy that Bayern isn't a "superclub".

I'm happy that Bayern is able to speed large sums on players from time to time.
I'm happy that Bayern still financial absolutely solid.
I'm happy that Bayern has an own fanatistic stadium.
I'm happy that Bayern is owned by its members.
I'm happy that Bayern is successful at the national level and from time to time also at the European level.

It's simple: The "superclubs" in Europe are those with the most members, most fans, best stadiums and - what is decisive in my eyes - MOST NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL TITLES! And not those which spend the millions of their tycoons for expensive & overrated players ... and nevertheless not being able of winning the CL.

So Inter is definitely NO "superclub"!

I'm going to have to disagree with you. My case is Chelsea. If you look at Chelsea, they don't have the massive trophy case like Liverpool or Real Madrid, however, they do have the massive funds to buy the best players. And to me that has more to do with superclub status than trophies itself. I agree with an earlier posters assessment, when some superstar player comes on the market, Kaka for isntance, the clubs that can afford him and he would be interested in are the superclubs.

Ok, that's your opinion and I respect it. My definition of a "superclub" is another one, though.

For me, Chelsea and Inter are no "superclubs"!
