The article goes on to say that everyone is comparing him to Fred... Apparently Fred had a slow start in the A League (the one in Australia). The comparison is that both of them didn't play well their first 7 games with Melbourne, but then Fred went on to lead the team to the title. (Sound familiar?) The coach goes on to say that the idea of replacing Fred with a foreigner or an australian is ridiculous, but he has a lot of faith in Carlos....

Hincha de River literally means "swelling of River," but has nothin' to do with flooding...it refers to the swelling, seething mass of humanity on the terraces (in River's case, los Borrachos del Tablon).

Reyes era, además, un seguidor entusiasta de su equipo, y lo animaba constantemente durante todos los partidos con gritos de «¡Arriba Nacional!». Estos gritos suyos resonaban en todo el campo debido a la enorme potencia de sus pulmones.
