no, he's not leaving (at least as far as I know) - he just HATES being called that, according to Steinberg on the Insider (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2007/09/dcu_training_notes_whos_the_mv.html#more)
Also, I was told that Christian Gomez apparently does not like being called "Gomito." "He was Gomito as a kid; he's a grown-a$$ man," Olsen said.")

that's why we've been chanting Christian Gomez, at least as long as I start it :D

What now?
Mr. Gomez? Christian? Gomez? Seņor Gomez? Pibe?
Or a banner
"Gomito, we respect your wishes: GOL-MEZ"
There already is a Mr. Gomez who works for the team so that's out.

Didn't one of the Spanish-language commentators call him "Peligro" Gomez in the CCC? I thought that sounded pretty good without being diminutive like the -ito or -inho nicknames.

If it's the diminutive he doesn't like, what about Gomote or Gomao?

I believe "peligro" means "danger" so maybe he was just using it as an adjective...however it does have a nice ring to it. :)

Regrettably, "grown-ass man" is already taken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Johnson_(American_soccer)). Of course, we can always call him Grown Assman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmo_Kramer). Or just Assman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Assman).

A Mini-Gomito?
ps-Really who would call him Gomito? If it is Ben, he should respond with Minister Horseradish.

Gomez is a proud Argie, so I say we should chant AR-GEN-TINA much like Old Trafford used to do for Heinze. I think that would bring a smile or thumbs up from Gomez.
