Diego Maradona's old club deserves its own thread, if only for the humor of it.

Their web site looks very slick and new, but, other than the links to sponsors, I can't get any further than the opening page. What am I doing wrong?

First,about Maradona...if he'll have a television show it'll be a late night porno show....
Second, about Napoli----really many things are changed in the last two year...now the club has a new owner, Naldi, who is involved in the Hotel business..he has money, but to build a good team he need some partner, and he's not able to find him...but it's the same a miracle that the club was able to pay his debts and to partecipate to next season (look what happened to Fiorentina)..the team is more or less the same the last season reached the fifth place, we lost Jankuloski, a great player...all of u, i think, know abouth the financial crisis of italian football, and so we have to be happy Napoli is still alive...only hope i have is that few money means more attention towards young, and italian, player

Found an interesting bit on a lazio fan site...I was surprised to see Napoli still among the most popular clubs. No idea where or how this poll was done:
According to a recent survey, Lazio is the 6th most loved club in Italy. Juventus is number one in Italy with over 30% of the population supporting the Turin side. The comes, in order of popularity, Inter, Milan, Napoli, Roma and Lazio.

Jesus, yes, Napoli is the most-followed team in the south, even during these years of struggle. Granted, many southerners follow one of the Big 6 teams, but those votes are split pretty evenly among the top teams. If you ranked the popuarity of teams south of Rome, Napoli would FARRRR outstrip the likes of Reggina, Bari, etc etc. Perhaps it's mainly because Napoli is the largest southern city by far, but people still remember the blissful Maradona years. I believe Napoli is the only club south of Rome to ever win the Scudetto - unless you count Cagliari, who won it once.

I was surprised to see them considered more popular than roma and lazio who've won titles recently...

Just winning a Scudetto does not make people suddenly like the team.
Putting it more logically, Rome is the largest city in Italy, followed by Milan, then Naples, then Turin. All of those cities have the allegiances of the populace split between two teams - except for Naples. Even if you assume all the fans of each team come from their own city, this sort of explains it.
