So the Thunder and Green Mill (bar/restaurant that's a new sponsor this year) decided to have this new promotion called Thirsty Thursday. Any time the Thunder score a goal it's $1 beers for the next 10 minutes. And boy did they pick the right game for it. The Thunder beat the Blast 8-0. The first goal didn't come for about 20 minutes, but after that it was pretty much $1 beers the rest of the game. They actually ran out of beer.
Hopefully this bodes well for the Thunder as they get ready for a playoff run. And hopefully they'll have another promotion like this.

Man, out of all the games to miss this season! So did Green Mill supply their own beer? As in the good stuff at from their brewpub location at Hamline + Grand in STPL? Or was it the usual Budweiser?
Great to see JM rack up a few more goals, too!

No, that was the one unfortunate thing - just the Bud and Bud Light and hard lemonade crap. On the plus side, though, a few of us went to Green Mill after the game (the one in the shopping center off Lexington right by where you get back on 35) and we talked to the people who have been running the beer tent. Strangely enough they recognized us from the game. :) Anyway, we asked about better beer and they said they'd have something additional out there at the next home game. Bud is still an official sponsor, so it has to be something Bud related, but they may be able to bring Red Hook (which I think is now owned by Anheiser-Busch) or something like that. We'll see.
It is odd, though, that with Green Mill's expansion into more locations that as far as I know the one in St. Paul is the only one that brews their own beer, and they don't sell it at any of the other locations.
Where do you usually sit when you go to games? Come down behind the goal for the next one and I'll buy you a beer - even if it's not a dollar.

Thirsty Thursday in Portland means $1 beer for the entire game, which is a good thing given our lack goal scoring this year. What was the attendance in Minnesota last night?

It was quoted as 2121, but it looked a bit emptier than that to me. Weeknight games are a tough sell, especially considering the number of families and kids the Thunder usually draw.
With that small a number (and even on a weeknight a lot of them were kids who obviously don't drink) I was impressed we were able to drink them out of beer.:)

I was (sort of) corrected on that. Apparently Bud has a 25% stake in Red Hook and a distribution partnership with them. Or something like that. So they don't own them outright, but there is some connection there.
At any rate, here's to hoping we do in fact see something not quite so bland at the beer stand at the next home match a week from Friday.
