Any word on what we can expect in terms of UEFA Cup coverage this season? There is already a lot of discussion about CL matches on this board but nothing about UEFA Cup. Take care.

If Setanta's coverage last year is any indication, coverage was a big step down from when GOLTV carried the earlier rounds of UEFA Cup. I wish that GOLTV would start to show UEFA Cup again. I think Setanta grabbed the rights to many of these games in order to show certain teams on Setanta Premium, and occasionally show a contest on Setanta Sports when they can pick up a telecast off of Sky and nothing else is on. They treat the UEFA Cup with only slightly better respect than their coverage of the Eredivisie. I wouldn't judge if they are increasing their coverage this year until the Rugby World Cup is over, but their first telecast is next Thursday...11:15 am Bayer Leverkusen v. Uniao Leiria.
Last year, all UEFA Cup games from the quarterfinals on were sold as one package for the first time, and FSC showed all those games (with the exception of one quarterfinal series, which Setanta showed.) I am assuming that the contract extends into this year as well.

It would be good if GolTV had UEFA cup like you wrote because I didn't have Setanta last year but if HDSports post is true and real indication then I would like to see it have better coverage and not respected as poorly by Setanta as Dutch league is.
I would like more information on UEFA Cup subject as well so it is good to have thread about.

action... Thanks for the listings...I was just watching the Asian (AFC) Champions League semifinal 1st legs today thanks to having Globecast:)
I hope you're correct on the TVRi match....according to their listings, the game is on TVR1, but I've seen that before (in their last Saturday Euro qualifier, the listings were the same way and TVRi did show the game.) In any event, I will set my DVD recorder for that game (..action, do you have a more reliable listings source for this channel?)

http://www.tvr.ro/program.php (then choose TVRi).
The game was listed there yesterday but only listed under TVR1 this morning. Doesn't look good.....

FOX Soccer Channel has purchased the US TV rights to Tottenham and Everton home games in the UEFA Cup (through the round of 16).
Setanta has games from the SPORTFIVE package, which includes home games to Galatasaray and a bunch of German and French teams.

I am happy to see these four UEFA Cup games (schedule below) becoming available to viewers here (and a possible two more should both teams advance to the round of 16). However, I do miss watching those UEFA Cup tripleheaders on GOLTV a couple of years back, often drawing on games set in Eastern Europe. As for Setanta's current showing of only one match per matchday, it just is not adequate coverage.
FSC Schedule of UEFA Cup:
Oct 25- Tottenham v. Getafe followed by Everton v. Larissa
Nov 29- Tottenham v. AaB
Dec 5- Everton v. Zenit

Yes, this is good news. Although I am not a Bayern fan, I am curious to see if this reloaded Bayern team will steamroll through the competition. And unlike many folks who complain about this tournament, I think it's a good measure to see how strong a league is (i.e., how well a league's mid-table sides can do against similar sides). So the more games we get in the N. America, the better. The only complaint I have about the UEFA Cup is the inclusion of 3rd place CL teams in the competition. Why is UEFA awarding a squad that can't cut it in one competition by allowing them more bites at the apple, so to speak? I hope Platini addresses this amidst his plans to re-do some of the European competitions. Take care.

Great news! I love seeing new teams [new to me that is] and always look forward to a Bayern Munich match. Thank you very much Huhe888 for the information. And for the UEFA cup on FSC. I enjoy both Tottenham and Everton and look forward to them facing teams outside of the Premier League. You have made my day! Thank you.

Looks like the FSC purchase of TV rights extends to the US only...our wonderful FSWC has got Women's soccer (Virginia Tech vs. Virginia) and IFL and Argentenian soccer on that day. Honestly, unless you have friends or family at either of those two colleges are you are in Canada, which would you rather watch...UEFA game or US women's college footie.
Well, I guess it beats Guy Stuff and Out of Bounds (FSWC viewers will know what I'm talking about)

I feel your pain. I can't see why someone in Canada would want to watch any college soccer unless they went to school at the university, they have family playing for one of the teams, or if it is a championship game. But even the first two cover an audience so small that FSWC is better off with a Sky Sports News rerun or a Football Asia rerun. Take care.

If it wasn't for SSN and Seria A I wouldn't watch FSWC. I find the juvenile comments by Jeremy St Louis and Mitch and the new guy to be quite sophmoric (I got into a bit of a sparring back and forth with JSL on this forum a year or so ago) at times and cringeworthy most of the time. Bobby McMahon is the voice of reason on that show. But hey, it qualifies for Can Con.
We get 1 live 10h00 premiership game on a Saturday on a basic cable channel and then the 11h00 Sunday game on another basic cable channel. The other 8 premiership games are on Setanta Sports Canada (which I get for about $15 CDN/month).
What I find unusual is this US college footie...none of the games have any semblance of a following here in Canada, they don't qualify as Can Con and quite frankly the camera work is sloppy, the crowds are low and there is no spark to the games. Still, I guess it beats IFL, Sports Unlimited, and those 2 round table talk shows they run (that qualify as Can Con....absolute dross).
