To be honest, I'm not entirely sure Duff would go if the relese clause was triggered. He seems like a very quiet lad who likes to be settled in an area, and not go out on the town etc. So it may be that he'd prefer to stay in the North West than pack up to London and deal with the hussle and bussle of a big city.
Maybe I'm clutching at straws, as I'd love him to stay.

With the fee agreed to...I really have to say it will suck if Duff leaves. With him around, I am guessing the standard midfield would look something like:
Duff-Todd-Tugay-Emerton...
Or some arrangement thereof...nonetheless, pairing that with Yorke and Cole up top as well as an improved backline, and, of course, Big Bad Brad led me to believe that Rovers were on their way to the CL in the '04-'05 campaign. I even liked their chances in the UEFA Cup.
I don't like the deal, if it goes through, but I will say that Rovers could appease my negativity by using that 17 mill wisely.

Duffer would be so hard to replace, but the 17 would be very nice. In this depressed marked (In other words, all teams not owned by Russians) that money could go a very long way.
Hopefully with our status as contenders for the top 4, we could land some talent.

to think that a player like Kluivert could leave Barca for a mere 10 mil or so can only breed optimism in finding one if not several high quality players to fill the gaping void
