Shaq was not too bad last night, imo. Considering the shift in playing style, the fact that he was not considered a threat anymore, and his age, I thought he looked alright out there. Give him sometime and if he is willing to give the effort, I think Phoenix will be good with the trade.

Yeah it wasn't bad. Honestly, that was one of the best games I've seen all season. I think the NBA is really starting to become fun again - I was one of those "nothing's good since Jordan" types, but the league now has a strong core of great players who are also decent human beings. They can market the hell out of them, and the quality of play itself has risen some. Combined with all the recent wheeling and dealing out West, and there is a very marketable product here, and enjoyable.

The trade deadline just passed 2 hours ago, rumor has it that a deal btw the Cavs and Bulls was completed bringing Ben Wallace in, but nothing's been confirmed.

I'm not convinced and think the Suns will flop. I honestly can't see them progressing further than the 2nd round in the playoffs if they even make it. They lost all thier defensive identity when they traded Marion and are easier to light up than a candle. The only way they can win is if they put up 120 points or more a night and that ain't happening. Its nice to see Shaq back but Diesel is running awfully close to empty right now.

In other news a Wu Tang sized trade just went down.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3257159

After Cleveland watched two longstanding trade targets land elsewhere -- Mike Bibby in Atlanta and Jason Kidd in Dallas -- sources say that the deal calls for the Cavaliers to receive Wallace, Szczerbiak, Seattle point guard Delonte West, Chicago's Joe Smith and a future second-round pick from the Bulls.

The Bulls, apparently abandoning their gamble on Wallace less than two seasons into the lucrative four-year deal they used to sign him away from Detroit, would get Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden and swingman Larry Hughes along with Cavs reserves Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown.

The Sonics, shedding Szczerbiak in the name of additional payroll flexibility, come away with the expiring contracts of Cleveland's Ira Newble and Chicago's Adrian Griffin as well as Cavs veteran Donyell Marshall.

EDIT: IT hasn't been confirmed like sdot said.

It's just gotta get approval from the league. Sounds like a good one for Lebron - Hughes has barely delivered for Cleveland, due to personal issues and health, and hasn't been the proven number 2 to LeBron. Wally S could be that guy, he can still hit the three ball very well. Wallace will be interesting, his current numbers aren't much of an improvement on Gooden, and he's gonna cost a ton more. DeLonte is a decent young PG that may help out.

Everyone else is clearing out cap.

You're not convinced? After one game?

The Suns had a "defensive identity?"

Give them time and then see where you stand. I can tell that you're young still.

I've never really been convinced with the Suns. Tons of offense isn't going to to get you too far if you can't play D. Even when they had Marion they were good at best. How are they a "young team"? Shaq is old, Nash is old, Hill is old, Bell is a veteran, Diaw and Barbosa are relatively young.

So because I'm young my opinion doesn't hold any weight? Ok chief.

When did I say they were young?

The integration of Shaq into the team is going to take some time, but he didn't look bad in his first game, so for you to conclude that this Suns team hasn't convinced you seems to me to be premature.

Shaq adds mass to the center position which the Suns have always lacked. Now they have it and only time will tell if it can pay off for them.

Because you're young, you have unrealistic expectations. You said that Shaq looked like poo-poo, which was not true. He didn't score 30 like he used to, but he played well and that was one of the best basketball games I've seen in years. Lots of years.

Im not sure if it was the end of the first half or 1st qtr, but that one play in the dying second of the half, Kobe took on Raja Bell and just dunked right by 3 players with time expiriing. Play of the night, and further hlilights that although Kobe is a prick, he is still hands down the best basketball player on the planet.

Also don't forget how much Amare Stoudmare will benefit from this move. Just look at his first game with Shaq. Something like 36points 17reb. Expect numbers like that for the rest of the year.

Agreed about the other night. Tremendous game and one of the best regular season games that I've seen.

Lakers are no joke now with Gasol.

Amen. I used to dislike him alot, but I think he's finally maturing as a person as well. You can see it in his game too - he doesn't have to force anything anymore. They have to give credit to Mitch Kupchak as well - they've finally got a great set of players round Kobe. Gasol, Vujacic, Bynum, a great freakin bench. I keep reading that they are now favorites to win it all - I think that's a bit over the top, but they are well equipped for the next few years.

I guess I overreacted a bit with my post.

I'm just a big skeptic of the Suns. They have always been loaded with talent but they never seem to go as far as they should.

Perhaps I do have unrealistic expectation but can you blame me? A team as talented as the Suns should be obliterating other teams with all the offense they have.

It's all about the Toronto Raptors. We're quietly getting better.

Yeah, they are improving, but why the hell cant T.J Ford keep from falling on the floor? The guy seems to always land on his neck. Im not sure if that was his third time being stretchered out of an arena after falling on his neck.

He could make them even better if he stayed healthy. They have a bunch of shooters, and then Bosh and Ford.

Ford is always hurt, but in my opinon Calderon is the better point guard for us anyways. What the Raptors need is a big Centre or strong forward to help help out Chris Bosh.

I really enjoy watching the Raptors play. Calderon really deserved to make it to the All-Star game because he is the most efficient PG in the league. He doesn't waste any shots and rarely turns the ball over. He is one of the best 3 point shooters and has the highest shooting % for a PG in the league. I'm surprised nobody tried to make a move for him during the trading window. Shame about Ford never being healthy. He's quite good but this is Calderon's team. The funniest thing about Calderon is that he keeps his play very simple while working off high screens and popping shots. He plays good coming off the bench and starting. Add to that the breakout year of Delfino and Bosh and you have a very good team.
