North just put it on Central 6-1...pretty surprising game! Wonder what that will do to both teams, and their confidence, going forward. Esp. when if you look at the sectional seeds, these teams would be slated to meet in a sectional semi final should both teams get out of what is easily the toughest, and deepest sectional in the state!

Congratulations to the Barrington Broncos on their 2-1 triple OT victory over the powerhouse Neuqua Valley wildcats in the IHSA AA state Cup soccer tournament.
This is Barrington's 1st IHSA soccer championship.
Barrington had the better of the first half and carried a deserved 1-0 lead into half time courtesy of a Francisco Furio header,Neuqua came back strongly in the second half and Ian Krol was unlucky not to score, when after taking on and beating 2 defenders he saw his powerful shot rebound of the near post.Neuqua's incessant pressure was finally rewarded when after some smooth passing on the left flank the game was tied through a deft Brian Ciesiulka finish. The Wildcats then stepped up the pressure and carried the game to the Broncos with Broncos goalkeeper Unak making three fine saves from Ciesiulka,Krol and the Wildcats leading scorer Brett Hruby.Hruby played the final despite breaking his nose in the semi-final earlier in the day. With just over 6 minutes to go the Wildcats were awarded a penalty but Hruby's well struck shot was matched by a superb save, low and to the left by junior Tom Unak.
Both sides traded opportunities in the overtime periods with Neuqua creating far more chances and looked the more likely to score, however throughout the game the Broncos always looked dangerous in the air and fittingly enough they won the game in the third overtime period on a header by Ryan Nolan following a fine set piece delivery by Cameron Reilly.
Man of the Match : Unak- Barrington.
Rockford Boylan beat Hinsdale Cenral in the third place playoff game again in multiple OT's.
The IHSA needs to extend this tourmnament.
I found it ridiculous that a final is played on the same day as a semifinal.
Neuqua started playing on Saturday at 9.00 a.m. and Barrington at 11.00 a.m. and it was nearly 11.00 p.m.that night when Barrington score the decisive goal.
It is time to showcase the Finals with a day of their own.We don't ask the Football players to play semifinal and finals on the same day. It's time to extend the same courtesy and respect to the athletes representing their schools in soccer.
They should just cancel the Class A tournament and give the trophy to Gibault permanently.
Looks like they took my suggestion, as they're changing to a three-class format in the future.
