Wonder if he will make the trip for the FCD/Chicago game next week??

ESPN Puts Beckham in the Booth

David Beckham courtesy ESPNDavid Beckham may not be able to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy, but that doesn't mean Major League Soccer is going to let its publicity magnet fade away, not while he's being paid a reported $5.5 million annual salary. Sidelined with a lingering knee injury, the English soccer star will provide commentary for ESPN2's telecast of tomorrow's MLS Primetime Thursday match between the Galaxy and Chivas USA (Thursday, Sept. 13, 11pm/ET).

Becks will join play-by-play man Glenn Davis, and analysts Eric Wynalda and Tommy Smyth for the call. According to ESPN, Beckham "will discuss a wide range of topics as well as provide some insight on game action."

I would assume this is just a LA home game thing, I doubt he makes a road trip for them.

Sounds like the usual yapping about nothing important is going to take a turn for the worse.

that's funny but how would Dir sound if he was interrupting the call with a mention of the Londoner's fish and chips only to notice for the first time that Beckham was sitting next to him?

No doubt. In-N-Out is one of my favorite parts of having a client in California.

If In-N-Out is so damn good, why is it not nation-wide?

I have never been there so I am ignorant to the quality of the food.

because it's so damn good, you see. the best stuff in the nation isn't nationwide. chicken fried steak, In-N-Out burger, local beers, Dr. Pepper (although in recent years its range has increased), [good] Mexican food, [good] Boston clam chowder, etc...

the stuff that sells best and goes nationwide is the garbage; McDonald's, for example.

I have a buddy that sent me a text from In N Out three weeks ago. He was sitting two tables away from Jamie Gertz. He used to run a Cotton Patch Cafe so he's not totally ignorant about food and he said the burgers were very basic and borderline blah. He said that "hand-made" burgers are pretty rare in LA and it's the lack of supply that keeps everyone so fascinated. It's probably like Texas BBQ in NYC or Thai food in Butte.

you mean he used to run a Cotton Patch Cafe and therefore he's an expert on basic, blah food.

nah, as a Texan who knows a good burger (it doesn't get better than Kincaid's in Fort Worth), I'd say that In-N-Out is easily the king of fast food burger chains. it comes nearer the mark of a real burger (which, yes, we can get in many non-fast-food Texan establishments) than any of the burger chains we settle for at home.

What's the point of this thread?

To veer wildly off topic as soon as we're presented an opportunity.

That's the point of EVERY thread, boomer. Thought you knew that by now. ;)

Burger House > In-n-Out (good stuff but overrated)

If In-N-Out is so damn good, why is it not nation-wide?something about never freezing the meat so it stays fresh and therefore not having a burger place more than one days drive form their distriubtor...

or something.

same reason you used to never be able to Blue Bell ice cream more than one days drive from texas.

That's exactly it. They only have one meatpacking plant and the food is never frozen, so that pretty much keeps it in California/Arizona/Nevada.

They were actually the subject of my Retail Geography paper/presentation for that very reason.
