I posted this elsewhere, but I thought it would be good here, too!

First to Qualify:

D: Germany needs 1 point in either of two October matches to Qualify.

A: Poland can qualify in October if it beats Kazahkstan, and Portugal and Serbia lose both of their October games (to Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Kazahkstan)
B: Scotland can qualify in October if it beats Ukraine, and France loses to Faroe Islands and Lithuania (yeah, right)
C: Greece can qualify in October if it beats Bosnia and Turkey.
E: Croatia can qualify in October if it beats Israel and England beats Russia.
F: Sweden can qualify in October if it beats Liechtenstein and Northern Ireland.
G: The winner of Romania-Netherlands can qualify in October if they win their second October game, and Bulgaria does not win in Albania.

Germany looks like a pretty good choice since they have 7 wins and 1 draw so far!

Beating Rep. of Ireland at home and Czech Republic on the road were keys to the German success.

I doubt Portugal will even qualify now.

That clown Scolari has run portugal into the ground, and even punched a Serbian player.

He doesnt call the proper players, we play horrible soccer under him, disgraceful tactics, and shameful lineups.

If it takes POrtugal missing the Euro shamefully to get him fired then so be it:D

Croatia, Sweden, Holland and Romania will be the teams that will qualify first.

If England and Russia draw (most likely) and we beat Isreal, we qualify as well.

It looks like they're the only ones who can qualify on the 13th, all the others depend on matches to be played on the 17th.

May I ask why? Because there's so many of them in Ireland now or?

Croatia will also qualify if England fail to beat Estonia and lose to Russia.

Ye that and Polish people are the most ignorant and rude people I've ever come across in my life, them and the Czechs!

Balkans people are the friendliest people I've ever come across hence why I really like Croatia and Serbia

Portugal will win the group no problem, dont worry about it.
They play Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazahkstan, and Finland....should get 12 pts right there in their remaining four games!

We thought we would smash Armenia and get results vs Poland and serbia at home.

Yet we tied all 3 games:(

I know this thread is about qualifying "mathematically". But realistically, every group except the Scotland group is virtually settled. What a boring qualifying tournament!

Thank goodness CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying has begun!

No they're not.

Group A is still open. Realistically 3 teams are still fighting, but even the Serbs are not down and out yet. They could move into a tie for 2nd with another win (which they have in hand over Finland above them). Nothing is settled yet. Poland has played 1 more game than them and the Portuguese.

Group B will be right down to the wire. Key match is Italy away to Scotland. I doubt France will drop any more points so it will come to this match for the world cup champions to see if they go to Austria-Switzerland.

Group C is not done yet. Greece looks like another win will take them through, but the key matchup is Turkey away to Norway which seems like it will probably decide who goes from those 2.

Group D is done.

Group E has Croatia pretty much deservedly through. Next game will decide who joins them. A Russian win will keep them on pace vs England, but should the English prevail in Russia, it's all over and England will join Croatia.

Group F well Northern Ireland looked good, but with things in their form it appears Spain and Sweden will close the deal being 6pts clear. Northern Ireland's poor form vs Iceland in both games (losses) have cost them dearly and have ruined their great play versus Spain and Sweden. A shame.

Group G shows that with Romania's recent win vs Holland, they're primed to go to their first tournament since Euro 2000. Bulgaria is not eliminated yet and are only 2 back of Holland. This will go down to the wire if the Bulgarians prove stubborn enough.

Don't know... Poland need 1 win in 2 games, and even if the matches are not easy, it's pretty much in their hands... Portugals next 2 matches are very easy, they will only need a draw in the last match at home against Finland. There are still matches to be played, but without notable upsets, this group is done.

Group B will be right down to the wire. Key match is Italy away to Scotland. I doubt France will drop any more points so it will come to this match for the world cup champions to see if they go to Austria-Switzerland.

I agree. Scotland at home against Italy will most likely decide who of them will qualify, however I don't think it's impossible that Ukraine will draw or even win against France on the last matchday, it is a home game after all. Nevertheless, France winning seems more likely.

Group C is not done yet. Greece looks like another win will take them through, but the key matchup is Turkey away to Norway which seems like it will probably decide who goes from those 2.

Yeah, Greece is through, Bosnia is out, but there are several other matches to watch... both Turkey and Norway still have to play Bosnia and that's a match that has to be won, too. And then there is of course Turkey vs Greece, anything but a sure win for Turkey. Especially if the head-to-head result will be a draw, the other games will be decisive.
Group D is done.

I agree.

Group E has Croatia pretty much deservedly through. Next game will decide who joins them. A Russian win will keep them on pace vs England, but should the English prevail in Russia, it's all over and England will join Croatia.

yep, though in the form of the latest matches, I think England are clear favourites. Group F well Northern Ireland looked good, but with things in their form it appears Spain and Sweden will close the deal being 6pts clear. Northern Ireland's poor form vs Iceland in both games (losses) have cost them dearly and have ruined their great play versus Spain and Sweden. A shame.

Since Spain and Sweden both still have to play each other and Northern Ireland, it seems possible that NI sill qualifies, however since NI has 3 very difficult games and will probably have to win all 3, it seems kind of unlikely.

Group G shows that with Romania's recent win vs Holland, they're primed to go to their first tournament since Euro 2000. Bulgaria is not eliminated yet and are only 2 back of Holland. This will go down to the wire if the Bulgarians prove stubborn enough.

Bulgaria doesn't play against Holland anymore. If Romania had lost yesterday, I'd still give Bulgaria a chance to get past them when they play against each other, but like it is, this group is done without a major upset (Holland not getting the 7 points they need against Slovenia, Luxemburg and Belarus would be a major upset)

To conclude: Group c will be thrilling till November, most interesting group. Group e has one decisive match next wednesday, group b has one and a half decisive matches in November, the rest is decided if nothing surprising happens.
