Do any of you heard about this 18 year old kid?

He is playing in the reserves of River Plate in Argentina ... and is mentioned as a true star who will soon play in the first team. He is a #9 ... of 'complete" scale.

Anyone have info on him?

Today, River's reserve coach was interviewed ... talking about River, and how last year so many youngster were promoted to the 1st team ... and now a few others are being promoted.

The point was ... what if Maxi Lopez is sold to Italian football, Milan, if there are players coming that can be fit to play in the 1st team, or they would need to go out and sign forwards.

The coach had really impressive words for Falcao ... of whom he said had all the atributes to be a great #9. He explained how they have been handling him little by little.

It is good for Colombian football to know this. Not to long ago, Saviola appeared out of nowhere ... Cavenaghi, Maxi, D'Alessandro ... and of course Mascherano and Lucho Gonzales.

If I find out more, I'll keep you peeps posted. :cool:

He is close to being the CF for River dude ... that could mean crossing the Atlantic without getting wet.

Also ... I'm sure at River he is learning discipline ... and how to make a career. Unfortunatley the same can't be said of Montano.

As to Herrera, by the explanation above, he is so much further away from int'l recognition. And won't start with comparing him to the talent I pointed out in my previous post.

Lastly ... have you checked you liver lately? I am bringing you positive news dude. About an 18 year old that might have the chance to play for River's 1st team, just as JPA did in the past. You know where he is now?

hace un año estos eran los mejores de colombia en la categoria sub17, los que se clasificaron al mundial de Finlandia
les fue bien, especialmente a Hidalgo (muchos decian que era el futuro gran jugador de colombia!)

estan todos casi que perdidos! recuerdan a guarin y su golazo para acabar el invicto de Brazil en eliminatorias sub17? ahora a durras penas juega para el envigado.
De falcao: hace unos meses lo llamaron en colombia y el river no lo presto para la seleccion que jugo eliminatorias en feb/04 de los olimpicos! No se como se salieron con la suya y la federacion se tapo la boca, creo que hay mucho dinero invertido en el costeño y todos los interesados hacen caso a River.
alquien sabe si ya jugo para algun seleccionado colombiano? en una de esas lo convocan para argentina...... ;)

oh I forgot, Colombia's NT training ground is in Armenia, where the hacienda for club bavaria used to be, my team used to play soccer there, after the game, we would get kegs of Pony Malta, and the adults would get kegs of beer......all free! We also got jerseys and other soccer gear for collecting tapas!

Radamel Falcao García y Daniel Hoyos se convierten en las grandes novedades de la Preselección Colombia Sub 17 que inicia este jueves 06 de marzo un nuevo ciclo de preparación en el Hotel Royal, de Barranquilla.
Falcao, hijo del ex futbolista Radamel, se encuentra enrolado en la tercera división del club River Plate, de Argentina. Hizo parte de la Selección Colombia que participó en el Suramericano de hace dos años bajo la orientación de Julio César Valdivieso. No había sido convocado con anterioridad porque fue operado en el mes de noviembre de una lesión en el pubis.
Hoyos, también hijo de ex futbolista (Carlos Mario Hoyos), actúa en el torneo de Estados Unidos.Lo de falcao es su segundo nombre (no apellido), su padre le dio ese nombre por el gran aprecio que le tenia al brazilero famoso, FALCAO.
