I wrote the following post in a thread about football chants. I just wanted to know if there are any others I may have missed out.
(Please bear in mind it was written for a non French audience, so please don't take the poking fun as anything personal you guys).
Anyway in France I've heard some (clean) chants that seem to be very common
1 ) "Qui ne saute pas" (Whoever isn't jumping)
It goes somethng like "Qui-ne-sau-te-pas-n'est-pas-Ly-on (accompanied by 9 rapid handclaps) -"nais" (1 handclap)
I can't give you the tune but it has inspired this well known rock song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLRTXeFAZIw
That's the Olympique Lyon version.
There's equally an Olympique Marseille (Qui ne saute pas n'est pas Marseillais)version and a Toulouse FC version (Qui ne saute pas n'est pas Toulousain) Not sure which is the original.
Adversaires have notably used it to needle fans of the opposing team, like in Paris when Paris Saint Germain beat Marseille in the French Cup Final two seasons ago
"Qui ne saute pas est Marseillais" (If you're not jumping you're from Marseilles)
2) Theres this crappy 80's song called life is life life is life (la la la la la) (Austrian group calle Opus). Apparently its pretty well known in France.
I've heard OL fans chanting Juninho's name to the same theme Ju-nin-ho (la la la la la) I suppose you can do it with other players names onces they have 3 syllables (works best for Brazilians)
3) I thought this was just a French thing but I heard it in Italy as well
The White Stripes' seven nation army bassline has become a football chant as well, with each note sung as "lo"
lo - lo lo lo lo - loooool lo , lo lo lo lo lo, lololol lo lo lo, and so on
4) PSG has a call and response thing that their fans do.
One side calls "All----ez Paris" and the other side calls "Paris----- est magique (Paris is magical) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45niBJ7B9dM
6) As the french are internationally known for their class, another nice taunt is the "Et ils sont ou, et ils sont ou, et ils sont ou les ---) Where are the --- ?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0n6wLMHyUc
or this version (ils sont ou les ---- (la la la la la la) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w6ru92QXc8 (you have to go to the 50th second to hear it)
7) When beating team 3-0 it is common to hear the "Et un - et deux - et trois - zero" (And One, and Two and Three Zero) They still can't get over 1998
Cool If all else fails you can use the immortal "Allez les ----" of Allez les bleus (Go Blues) adding in the club teams nicknames instead of "les bleus", but it is rare.
French Ligue 1 team nicknames
Olympique Lyonnais - OL, Les gones
Olympique Marseille - OM
St Etienne (ASSE) - Les verts (The Greens)
Lille (LOSC) - Les Dogues (The Hounds)
Toulouse FC - Les violets (The Violets)
RC Lens - Les Sang er Or (The Blood and Golds)
