As if all the time we waste on these boards isn't enough ...
... now we've got BigSoccer radio. (http://radio.bigsoccer.com/)
A few things ...
First, this should be interesting.
Second, why Saturday night? Quite often MLS games aren't even over at 7:00pm PST but that's when the show starts. Who's going to listen to the show instead of watching the last couple MLS matches? And then there's competition from MLS Wrap for the FSW crowd. Maybe this was the only time they could get (believe it or not but the show is actually going to be on over the air radio, not just internet radio). Still, in a perfect world I think Sunday would be better.
Third, I never listen to World Soccer Weekly. Are Steven Cohen and Nick Geber the hosts? Apparently they're doing this show as well.
Fourth, how about a poster of the week as a special guest?
Fifth, I hope the damned thing is archived somewhere because I'm watching games until 9:00pm PST this Saturday.
Sixth, "Call toll free: 866-925-TALK (8255)" - I guess that's what all the premium memberships are paying for.
Seventh, what kind of a two-bit radio network is this? Two stations in Utah. Two in South Dakota. There's even on in Alaska, Wyoming and Nebraska. But the only lousy station they've got in California is in Fresno. Fresno!? I repeat: FRESNO!?

My God, complaints already.
Yep, that's Bigsoccer all right. ;)
I can get 1340 in Joliet, so I'll listen on my way home from the Fire game Saturday night about 10 CT.
I don't know who Cohen and Geber are. But if they want a Chicago correspondent, I'm there!

Just as long as there's a webcast, that'll make me happy. 7 p.m. PT Saturday is 12 noon Sunday Melbourne time, so that's convenient for me. :)
And if the webcasts are archived, that'll make me even happier. Thank god for the internet.
Also, if you want a poster to be a guest, I wouldn't mind... might be nice to give a perspective from an overseas-based poster who still follows MLS faithfully. ;)

This is just the old World Soccer Weekend show that has been renamed. It's been on for a few months now. There is no change in the time slot. I've called the show twice in the past.
The problem has been that Sports Byline apparently has not allowed Nick and Stephen to archive the show. I hope this changes now that Big Soccer is involved.
I also hope that by having Big Soccer's name stamped on the show that it will get an increased listenership especially since it now has a separate forum devoted to it.
And, if you still want to watch the Galaxy, get Yahoo Platinum and you can watch them anytime you want.

Or any other team. I'm one big step ahead in that gameplan, folks. :D

My sentiments exactly. I know this is just getting off the ground but hopefully there will be more stations in California. Especially in Nor and So cal.

A full list of stations has just been added to the radio page, but they are subject to various levels of pre-emption, whereas the original list are regular broadcasters.
You will see BigSoccer posts integrated into the show. The idea of bringing a poster on is a good one. We'll chew on it.
The show will of course be available online - the click me link goes live 15 minutes before the show does. I'll post archive details as they emerge next week.
Obviously the key to the show's success is your support. We believe a nationwide call-in soccer only show will be a success, and we believe BigSoccer Radio Weekend is just the beginning of BigSoccer Radio.
Thanks,
Huss

Those guys look like Arsenal supporters too. You can take that any way you want.

I guess I would want it on a Sunday night too in a perfect world. I was going to hide from the US and El Salvador game until Sunday since Galavision is showing the game at 7PM on Sunday. I guess I'll just have to find the score ahead of time since I want to check out this radio show and don't know if it'll be archived.

Hey now, as a former Alaskan I must object. The Anchorage area has a quarter million people or so. I'll grant you South Dakota and Wyoming though. No substantial urban areas to speak of there.

We look forward to you all joining us tomorrow night for the show.
For the record I am a Chelsea fan and Nick is a Liverpool fan...not Arsenal fans at all. We are however enormous worshippers of the game and will be happy to talk to you about any aspect of the game played at it's highest level...take that any way you like.
All shows are streamed live over the internet and will be available as archived shows either at bigsoccer or our site www.worldsoccerweekly.com.
Tomorrow Rio Ferdinand of Manchester United is our guest and if you are in LA or NY we offer you world soccer weekly every monday night 8p-11p PST...this week our guest will be Peter Kenyon the CEO of Manchester United or as some know him 'the man who traded Beckham."
We like and support the MLS and have had many of it's biggest stars on our shows such as Landon, DaMarcus, McBride, Cobi, Jon Spencer to name just a few.
We hope to hear from you all tomorrow night and whilst we would prefer Sunday night we are doing what we can, when we can to grow this brilliant and beautiful game...and remember that we are in the US and we will not unfortunately get the most choice time slots. Sometimes we have to take what they give us. So stop complaining, tune in and give us a ring.
Cheers

Thanks for the info and I'm going to try to check the show out. Now, to avoid future crucifixtion, repeat after me:
"It's MLS, not the MLS"

While I am duly corrected let's consider the current performance of the league on the pitch.
While we like and support MLS we are not hear to praise it to the heavens. We take enormous issue at the manner in which it is run and at times the level of play and stadiums such as the one Dallas is currently playing in.
If you want to start the discussion at the difference between MLS and THE MLS we are happy to start the discussion there and will look forward to hearinf from you tonight.
cheers

If the fact that we have the audacity to actually criticize MLS on occasion, and that we do not believe MLS is the best league on planet just yet makes us eurosnobs then i will wear the tag proudly.
If you want to have a serious discussion about the league, the way it is run and all the rest of it then please give us ring if you don't then our shows are not the forum for you.
Do you think that the stadium that the Dallas Burn play in right now makes the league look like a serious soccer league? I don't. I think Home Depot Center does on the other hand. But it is a worthwhile discussion.
It might also surprise you to know that we do a show on Wednesday nights in LA only, called the Galaxy Soccer Report where we are hired by the Galaxy. So i think that should put your mind to rest as to our eurosnob nature.
That said we do think the Premiership is the best league in the world top to bottom but welcome your discussion if you think the level of play in MLS makes it the best league in the world.
cheers.
