Remember the thread at the beginning of the season that proposed this could be one of the best DCU team's ever. Well, well, look at what Jeff Bradley wrote on MLSNet........
What if D.C. United did not start 0-3-1? Would they be considered one of the greatest MLS teams ever? Think about it, say they go 2-0-2 in those opening four games and currently sat with 50-plus points with eight games to play. I ran into Tab Ramos the other day and he thinks this D.C. team is one of the best he's ever seen anyway. But I can only imagine what the opinion would be had they gotten off to a better start. They're good.
This time I'm not saying a word just throwing this out.

I can't wait to hear The Bruce's take on this. He dropped a notch in my estimation last time he commented on "best DC United team ever".

NO!!! We are absolutely horrible and stand no chance of taking home any silverware this year (Atlantic Cup nothwithstanding; we don't need good magumbo to beat the Scum).

Not the best ever unless they take Copa Sudamerica, MLS Cup and the SS. So far they've done nothing but have a good summer.

God damn it we haven't WON ANYTHING YET.
This isn't f'ing New York, Columbus, or Colorado. We're goddamned DC United, we expect excellence around here, and we have seen it often. This 2007 United team is a very good MLS team, but we've won big time trophies in our history. So until the season is over, trying to answer this question is pointless.
To put this into perspective: Eddie Pope is coming to town tomorrow. There isn't a player on this team, right now in 2007, that is as good as Eddie Pope was in his prime. Not one.
Can we f'ing win something before we have this discussion again?

I ran into Tab Ramos the other day...
Poor guy is probably still on a stretcher.
Stop with the bad juju threads.
Seriously.
Thread re-opened so y'all can jinx the hell out of things.

This is a clear example of the media's anti-DC United bias.

I don't believe in juju, mojo, jinxes, black cats, ladders, stepping on cracks in sidewalks, breaking mirrors, spilling salt, mutilating rabbits, or any of that other superstitious crap. We live in the 21st century, and don't need to be concerned with, or bound by, the fearful ramblings and guesswork of medieval illiterates.
Our SS destiny is in our hands, isn't it? If we have a good mindset and play as well as we are capable, we will win the league. If we falter, we won't. This is self-evident.
We don't need to read entrails or sacrifice animals or speak in hushed tones about what this team can achieve. It's all in front of us. The next few weeks will be fun to watch.

1. CD Guadelajara @ DCU: 1-1; DCU @ CD Guadelajara: 1-2.
2. DCU @ Harrisburg City Islanders: 0-1.
3. DCU @ Los Angeles Galaxy: 0-2.
Three chances to win hardware that we've blown.
We have three more yet to come. We'll see whether we win anything or blow them all too. Until we win something, it's absurd to compare us to teams that actually did win something.

By "we" and "us", of course, you mean the players and coaches - as fans, obviously, "we" can't alter a damn thing. ;)
And while I agree with you overall, there is still a kernel of truth in all of this nonsense -- if players start reading their own press and start to get complacent, they can fail. Or, if players believe in mojo or juju or whatever then at the first turn of ill fortune (say an early goal by an opponent) they might believe that losing is their destiny. It's that whole "good mindset" thing.
