With only 57 days until the beginning of the 2006 WCQR, I figured that I would start a prediction contest on BS. There will be 7 winners at the end: 1 for each of the 6 regions and one overall winner. The winners will have the satisfaction that they are the elite at predicting matches on BS! Here are some rules that I have thought up:
1) For each correct result (picked the correct winner, or correctly picked a draw) will recieve 1 point. If you can correctly guess the scoreline you will recieve 3 points. However, if say you pick the correct result and have only one score right for one team and not the other, you will recieve 2 points. Here is an example:
Colombia vs Brazil
Your prediction: 2-0
Actual result: 2-1
You would recieve 2 points
However, if you get the result wrong and one score right, you recieve no points.
2) All predictions must be submitted at least 1 hour before the scheduled kick-off time to recieve credit for your prediction. Anything posted after this time will be disregarded. You are allowed to change a prediction as long as it's at least 1 hour before the scheduled kick-off time.
That's about it. If anyone has any ideas on a better way of doing things post it here.
Here are the first matches that will be played in the CONMEBOL region on September 6th-7th, 2003:
Colombia vs Brazil
Ecuador vs Venezuela
Uruguay vs Bolivia
Argentina vs Chile
Peru vs Paraguay
My Predictions:
Colombia 1-1 Brazil
Ecuador 1-0 Venezuela
Uruguay 0-0 Bolivia
Argentina 2-0 Chile
Peru 2-2 Paraguay
Note: I will post the CAF matches when the matches get closer.

I don't know if you should put such a heavy influence on scorelines. Maybe just a 1.5 if you have the entire correct score. Anyways...
Colombia 1-1 Brazil
Ecuador 1-1 Venezuela
Uruguay 2-0 Bolivia
Argentina 3-0 Chile
Peru 1-1 Paraguay

I believe they will play CONCACAF instead this time. but who knows it might be the Socceroos. If it is then It would most likely be Peru, Uruguay or Ecuador.

I'm glad to see people posting already...keep um coming! Remember, you can change any of your predictions as long as it's at least 1 hour before kickoff time.
As far as weighing getting the currect scoreline, how about only 2 points for a correct result and 1.5 for one of the scores right with the correct result and 1 point for just the correct result?
